Last night I had a dream that I discovered an old mangy cat living under the bed in the spare room (in the house where I now live with my partner and two flat-mates). It had been living there for years and I coaxed it out. It was 101 years old and very wise, and it communicated with me telepathically. It was quite a small cat and looked as though it had not eaten for a very long time - it's stomach was shrunken up very small - but it was strong. I absolutely loved this cat! I wanted to give it water and my mother said "no, don't give it water" but I did anyway and it thirstily drunk from the dish; then I wanted to give it milk and my mother said "oh, no don't give it any milk!" but I gave it milk anyway and it drank the milk to nourish itself.

Any ideas?

This cat represents something about yourself, something that has been forgotten for a long time, and that you need to nourish. Any idea why your mother told you not to "nourish" it?

Yes I think that makes a lot of sense actually. The way she said it was the way she always over-reacts with anxiety, like "oooh I don't think you should do that!". She's been that way in the past year about things I've wanted to do, and in doing them I have met with a lot of opposition due to her (unfounded) fears. And in every case it's been important for me to go ahead and do what I feel is best for me, which I guess is what I did in the dream by giving the cat water and milk despite what she said. Also I've become aware that I haven't been "nourishing" myself as much as I could, as it seems that all my time is spent trying to please everyone else and not getting enough time just for me. So, as always you make a lot of sense, Ra!
