I dreamt I went walking for a very long time around my local area until it was very late and dark. I asked a strange looking man (like an unkempt aging rock star type) for directions home and he started trying to touch me and grabbed me roughly by the wrist. I managed to get away and ran almost back to my house.

On the path leading up to my house I came across an old man crying and mumbling to himself. He had a bottle of some kind of alcoholic beverage in his hand. I asked him what was the matter and he replied ; 'My son is sick, he needs help! Will you help me?!' At first I blurted 'No!' and turned to go but immediately felt bad and turned back round and said I would help him.

But he was suddenly extremely angry at me and started shouting abuse. He then threw his bottle at me and kept throwing bottles, trying to hit me. I tried to run but for some reason I could not get away fast enough and he caught up with me easily.

He pulled me to the ground and tried to strangle me. I woke up at that point but felt absolutely terrible, the dream kept coming back in flashes making me feel sick.

Do you feel lost, vulnerable, "in the dark"?

Is someone angry with you?

Is someone or something restricting you emotionally, creatively ... or otherwise? Does someone/something "have you by the throat"?

I guess thinking about current events in my life things have been a bit messed up recently. My best friend and I are arguing a lot lately over the guy she is seeing. He is a horrible person who is constantly letting her down and treating her bad and I am very worried for her. We end up arguing a lot whenever we talk/see each other.

Other than the above the only other upset I can think of is that I am torn between going to University in September or just giving in to my craving to go travelling abroad. Whenever I try to talk about these feelings my family/friends beat me back down with reason. So I feel I have no choice...

COuld either of these be the cause do you think? I've been having quite a few agressive dreams lately; I dreamt a few nights ago that I was a cat hunting mice (lol sounds strange I know) but I just tore them to shreds when I caught them.

Asking for directions home while walking, in the dark, late, could certainly reflect your indecision about your near-future life path direction.

And to add to the stress, the dream suggests there is someone in your life who is not facing reality, who needs help, but in some way turns on you (or so is your perception of it). This is what the stange man with the alcohol is about. Someone associated with the symbology of this man shows anger towards you, and does not allow you to use your "voice".

So, that part culd easily represent your best friend and her boyfriend, the stranger being a kind of combination of them.
