I had a levitation dream last night and it fits this description perfectly.

Those are certainly possible meanings. Does one apply to you? It could also mean that you are feeling well balanced and in control. Maybe you are feeling powerful, or are enjoying a feeling of "lightness" in your life.

It seems significant that you were instructing friends and family. Perhaps you are in ways, a living example to them, of spiritual expansion and being true to your spirit.

I think the interpretation that you may need to become more grounded seems so ordinary, lacking awe in the magical amazement of the experience. (so practical, so trite...blechhh )
I liked what Ra said about lightness.

Levitation makes me imagine a release that's freeing of the burden of limitations.

In many ways, we can become trapped or weighed down, in defining our Selves in relation to worldly things...things of the world~~ associations, material things, appearance, etc.
There's a magical Space of release, when we become detatched from it all and See the Grander beyond (within) into what's most meaningful.
Maybe you're finding that Space, more and more and this dream was a way of letting you experience the Freedom your Soul is aligning with (remembering?).
