I keep having recurring dreams about my Auntie. She is my mum's younger sister, and they were very close when they were bringing up their children in their twenties. I spent a lot of time at her house but I hardly see her these days, as I don't live near her anymore.

In the dream she is as she was as a young woman in her twenties (she's about 50 now). It's a domestic scene, she's hanging out washing in the garden at sunset and she looks very beautiful. I'm there. The garden overlooks the sea and it's a peaceful scene and although we are not speaking we are communing.

I asked my mum to contact her when I had the first dream, it was so vivid I just wanted to know if she was ok. She was ok then.

I had a second one and then my mum tells me that Gill has contracted toxoplasmosis somehow. It can be pretty nasty and affect the brain.

I am now so worried about the symbolism of 'sunset' and feeling quite distressed. I don't like it that it might be prophetic.

I don't know what I want as a result of posting this but just to share I suppose.

not all dreams are meant to be prophetic. i would honestly not worry too much about it. ive had dreams where i worried it was going to happen, and it never did. you cant stress out yourself over something this. this dream could mean so many things, or it can mean nothing. maybe the sunset is symbolizing peace and tranquility? it could mean she finds peace within herself. my prayers are with you.

Thank you so much for your reassurance. It means a lot. I haven't ever foretold anything by a dream before so I'm sure you're right and it's nothing to worry about. Too much caffeine yesterday too!

could it be wheelofcheese

that this is that invisible way of communicating with your beloved Auntie?
Maybe you were on her mind too, and it came out in a dream?

I only wish I did dreams, I am by no means an expert here.

Hello wheelsofcheese

Writesomething is right ... there are many things the dream could be suggesting.

And Lalalinda has a good point about nonverbal communication with Gill, as that is precisely how it was in the dream.

In a general sense, what I see in the symbology does suggest change of some kind. Sunset can indicate the ending of a cycle. Washing in the garden suggests cleansing in preparation for growth, especially in conjunction with the sea, which connotes a grander connection with the collective unconscious.

I'm not sure what it all means. Perhaps this illness will help her to cleanse certain things from her life. And that is assuming this is about her at all. Maybe the dream is a reflection of your life in some way? At least the dream was beautiful and peaceful.

I don't think toxoplasmosis is usually really serious, so hopefully she'll have little difficulty getting that under control. Does she have cats? They seem to be a common cause for it.

Thank you both so much for your responses. I read them yesterday and had a think about it.
The first great piece of news I heard last week is that she's getting treatment for her toxo and it is not going to be serious! Phew...

I think what you said Ra, about this maybe not being about her at all.. it got me thinking about my own status as an aunt. I'm not planning on having any children myself but my two sisters have one girl each and lately I've been thinking about them a lot and put up a new picture of them on the wall. My sisters' relationships have broken down lately and I am feeling that my ability to help the kids is a bit futile, geographically and emotionally they are nowhere near me. I don't know - but I had a dream about a different aunt last week and she was always a bit nasty to me as a child, in really subtle ways.

In short lovely people, I think it's more to with my feelings as an aunt....

Isn't it odd how this stuff works its way out?

Thanks bundles to you all and the time taken to give a considered response. Hugs!

You are probably right. That makes a lot of sense, especially considering the conflict you feel and the good aunt/bad aunt symbolism.
