i hadn't had any memorable dreams for a month or so, then today i woke up feeling very strange... i really want to be able to analyze dreams on my own but i'm still lacking the skill to have an overall comprehensive understanding. if anyone can take a look i'd appreciate it! it helps me get better.

i have just left the city i love to move away, but i'm planning to move back there when i settle things here. in the dream i was back in town. then i needed to fix something and went upstairs to my former lover's former playmate. she is a very nice girl and always smiling in real life. she kindly let me use her tools to fix something, and i think i was gluing something back together, and as i was doing so, i worried that my being there was bothering her, but she seemed really nice just as in real life.

then she pointed outside the window, it was like past midnight or something, strange hour. she said, "look, BIG car!!" i look out and there are strangely shaped vehicles, tourist buses, i guessed, and people inside were all smiling and looked nice.

i went outside and i was in a neighborhood where i grew up as a child, and from one of the buses came a bunch of people. and one of them were my childhood friend and his father! it's been AGES since he appeared in my dream, and we held our hands and jumped in joy for reuniting. as a child i used to say that i was going to marry him when i grew up.

then all the people got together and started doing a casual ceremony. childhood friend said they just finished "dedicating milk", and are going to celebrate it. everyone looked content and happy.

then i noticed a really tall wall, and noticed that the building that used to be there as a child was gone. i climbed up the wall to see the other side, and there was a huge deep dark hole in the ground.

then i realized that i left the TV on at my former lover's former playmate's room. i went up the stairs and the door was wide open, TV on loud, and the girl was sleeping in bed. she left the door open for me. i sneaked in to quietly turn the TV off but i couldn't and the screen just flickered and divided into 4 sections, did strange things. then she woke up and said i can't turn it off directly from the TV itself and started looking into the computer. she was not bothered at all that i was invading her room like that.

in real life, a couple of days ago i received an email from my former lover, he was drunk. we keep in regular contact as friends, but in this email he suggested like he misses our physical intimacy, and i got my heart stirred up a bit...

Hello lechien

The dream begins as a reflection of your looking forward to moving back (back in town) and the need to settle things where you are (need to fix someting). The dream suggests that you are trying to put something back together (gluing something). What is it? What do you need to "settle" or otherwise complete/fix? The dream scene takes place with your ex's ex, these images probably being spawned by the e-mail from your ex, suggesting a connection to a relationship. Is this so? Are you trying to "settle" a relationship?

If that is not what you are currently trying to settle, then the dream could be linking your current situation to something else that needs to be "fixed", some past situation or relationship. In fact, it looks as if the roots of the subject of this dream extend back into your childhood (childhood neighborhood).

The childhood neighborhood is representative of the landscape of your psyche as a child, and here the missing building is indicative of some missing "structure" in your childhood. The wall represents the psychological barrier you put up around this missing part as a form of protection from the "hole" you were left with. What "structure" was missing in your childhood? The dream suggests a relationship of some kind (childhood friend and father) ... was your father not there in some way? Someone/something else?

The dream begins with your ex's ex and gluing something back together, and later you experience a "reuniting" with a friend you used to say you would marry. See the symbolic similarity/connection?

The TV is a reflection of this "inner story". The TV is loud, representing the "volume" of whatever is being brought out in your psyche, and the screen divides into four sections, symbolizing the division which exists in your mind concerning this issue, as well as personal examination and rectification of the issue's psychological structure/boundaries (four).

What do you think about all of this?

Ra, i'm so sorry for the late reply, i didn't have internet for a few months! thank you again for your brilliant insight...

i can't explain well, but your interpretation falls in right places. especially the missing "structure" in the childhood. my journey here is turning out to be the trial to face it and try to find the pieces to reconstruct this "structure", for this has created problems in my adult life(phobias caused by trauma etc.).

and yes, i also did not know my father till i was a grown-up (this is not necessarily the "missing structure" itself). and the ex-lover is a little older than i am and he sort of overlaps as a father-like figure. in the dream it seems like its pointing to the necessity to merge the childhood and and the life as a grown-up together to refocus and bring things back to the zero point, to restart as a fully-adult being...

it's difficult to clearly explain, but this is what i see in this dream through your interpretation. this really helps me have a clear understanding of what i'm going through right now. thank you very much!!
