I had a wonderful dream last night. The man in this dream is someone I have never met in real life, but someone I have chatted with online.

In my dream I am in a small dark room…with a double bed and I think, a table. It is evening outside. There is another room, a hall and a kitchen outside. The walls are white, not new. It is not an affluent looking home.

I am talking to this man. Its his room. And then suddenly I am standing against the wall and he is in front of me. And we kiss but it is a very short kiss. I am not satisfied. He turns his head to hear someone moving outside (his mother)
I move closer to him, press my body against his and start to kiss him passionately. But then I stop suddenly as I see through the window in the front wall, that the curtain is not drawn and his mother is looking. I sit down suddenly and tell him that I think she saw us.
His mother, a dark woman with grey hair, is sitting on the bed and looking at me. She asks me if I was going out through the window. "No of course not", I reply, "there is no way out from there."
I sit down on the floor in front of her. She starts combing my hair with a wooden stick. A little girl in a long skirt and a blouse with plaited hair also combs my hair with that stick.
Then he takes it and starts to comb my hair. I loooove it when he does that. I go into a deep meditative state where I can only feel peace and love in my entire being as he combs and parts my hair.

I like this dream. Interpretations anyone?

So then I did a google search on the symbology and rituals associated with combing someone's hair and this is what I found:

In some regions of India, it is tradition for the mother in law to comb the new bride’s hair. This is to show love and a mother daughter relationship.

In China, a hair stylist arrives at the homes of both the bride and the groom the night before their wedding to comb their hair for good luck and prosperity.

Combing hair is a grooming/taking care symbol. It is also a symbol of taming a woman…her wild and free hair being ordered and tied neatly into plaits.

In European mythology You welcomed somebody into your house by combing their hair. It was a sign of love and trust to let your hair be combed by somebody else,

In Africa and certain tribal areas of India, women are presented wooden combs by their lovers. Some even have special messages on them.

Lithunian lore : a comb or padlock is placed under the girl’s pillow before New Year. He who will comb her hair and unlock the door in her dream, will become her husband.

simantonnayana: "Hair-parting." A ceremony held between the fourth and seventh months in which the husband combs his wife's hair and expresses his love and support.

Hello firelights

This does sound like a nice dream. The meanings you found certainly lend themselves to a positive relationship with this man. Do you feel this way about him in waking life?

Hair can symbolize thoughts/ideas, and combing can suggest an ordering of these thoughts/ideas. In my view, combing hair can reflect a need or desire for clarification concerning a relationship/situation. Is this the case? Are you wondering about this man and what your relationship with him might be?

Yes! Yes! Yes! Ra. :-)
Im wondering all the time.
And even when I'm telling myself to let it be, to let things take their own time, to not second guess or let expectations interfere with the flow or the path this will take, i know that inside me, I so want to know.

Wonderful interpretation that. It struck a chord. Thankyou.
