Hello Ariefairy It depends. Generally though, mirrors "reflect" something about ourselves, although this reflection can extend into more worldy issues and our place within them. Actually, the more I think about it, it becomes apparent that mirrors can symbolize a great number of things. It really depends upon the context. They can represent a door between worlds, or between the conscious and unconscious. They can symbolize the imagination, thought, intellect. They can symbolize illusion or deceit. See what I mean? hello! mm i hadn't thought about it like that...in this context then; in the dream, looking a A4 hand-held mirror...was sitting in the bathroom kneeling on the floor, and i looked up, and saw the reflection in another mirror, and it was so abstract i felt excited at seeing another 'hidden perspective' then someone was about to enter the bathroom, as we have no lock...and i got up and skipped away...woke up and wanted to use the idea in my art work, but dont really understand what the reflection of a reflection means...it was inspiring though... *ponders silently* mirrors, reflections, reality...i always seem to perceive reality through mirrors also...the reflection of a mirror is so real...the world i have before me seems like a pandoras box. i can never shut off from it, im always caught between this world and the dream world...im never too sure which one is real, it sounds mad, but my life is a constant ache...because i know there is something beyond my grasp, beyond my sight. yes. i havent had any mirror ones lately. but all week i have had this continuing strange strange dream. it is like existing in two realities. dreams are both: inspiration and my damnation. do you dream much? years ago i dreamt about the wand of hermes and pyramids of egypt (with snakes as their faces)...i used to draw all of my dreams...and didnt realise until about 5 years later what it actually was.

Hello Ariefairy I have been thinking about your mirror dream. Sometimes the reflection of a reflection reveals an undiguised truth. I think your statement about "seeing another hidden perspective" is probably a very good interpretation, although I do not know what this "hidden perspective" might be. It could be just as simple as what you felt when you awoke ... an idea to use in your art work. Or, I suppose it could be suggested that you have been distracted from seeing a truth (someone was about to enter). If being in the bathroom is part of the symbology, as opposed to simply being a normal place in which to use a mirror, then we could even speculate that perhaps you have been distracted or interrupted from seeing the truth about some sort of cleansing or purging that you may need to undergo. What do you think? IP: Logged |

hello Ra thanks for the post....thats interesting what you put...the 'hidden perspective,' and of seeing 'truth'...the symbology of the bathroom...soul cleansing, yes, and being distracted, yes..it makes more sense now i think about it. i use dreams in art, in order to understand them..and hopefully manifest something inspiring...that can help me to grow. to understand. what you said; (quote) 'perhaps you have been distracted or interrupted from seeing the truth about some sort of cleansing or purging that you may need to undergo.' the words rang an alarm in my head. there are things i need to do...i know that i need to do, but i am suffocated in my life. my mind is whirring now IP: Logged |
