The past couple nights I've had cat dreams. I wouldn't call them nightmares because a bad dream has to be really extreme for me to call it a nightmare - but they were unpleasant dreams.

First night - there was a flood. The waters were rising steadily and there was a storm going on around us. There were stray cats in the yard and most of them had kittens so I was trying to rescue all of them before all the water came. My apartment was on the second floor and a stairway went directly up to it from outside. My 10 year old son and one of his friends were up there already. I was bringing armfulls of kittens up and putting them inside, I had to close the door behind me quickly so they wouldn't run out. Then I realized that one of the walls of my apartment was really just sheets and part of the floor up there wasn't completed so kittens were dangerously close to falling out. I went upstairs and my son was there dropping kittens out like it was a game. I got really upset with him because he wouldn't stop and I slapped him.

*note: in real life he's an EXCELLENT kid, never in trouble and I don't slap him in any way - and hardly ever have to even put on a stern voice to him.

In my dream last night I was at work. One of my coworkers brought her cat into work (in waking life she is currently on disability because she has cancer) and the cat was super fat but cute. She was letting it walk around on the floor and somehow it ended up covered in some day-glo green slime that was printer toner. I was running around trying to find a towel to help clean the cat up. I went outside and found a towel on the hood of a car and under the towel was a little black fuzzy kitten. I picked it up and realized it had a thick white thread tied tightly around the base of it's tail. It had been there a while and had burrowed into the skin and created a nasty wound. It was bleeding. I started walking with it back inside and it kept bleeding and the blood was covering my hands and pouring on my feet and I started crying hysterically because I didn't know what to do to help it.

Was avoiding this one because I always heard cat dreams are not good, but since nobody has answered you, I will give you a book definition so as not to impose my own personal opinion...

CAT-
A generally unfortunate omen indicating treachery and deceit among those you trust. If you killed the cat, you will defeat the purpose of your detractors; if you chased it away, you may expect a sudden stroke of luck.

Maybe it was just an infusion of something you saw on tv and a bit of anxiety or something. *fingers crossed*

Thanks for your reply

I've never read that definition / symbolism for cat before. That's interesting.

Poor cats. They get such a bad rap!

I'm going through a lot with my ex husband and custody of our son. My ex is pretty darned deceitful. Maybe it's related. I don't know.

Cats generally represent problems, big or small problems. I love cats lol
But in dreams they do tend to mean annoyances.
