I frequently have very active, vivid, adventurous dreams that include people I know, people I don't. Sometimes I can see their features, sometimes not.

This is the reason I like sleeping so much!

Anyway, I have been down with a bad cold the past week, and as usual when I am not well, my dreams get even more bizarre and start to cross-over to a more conscious state.

In one of these dreams, someone very dear to me appeared in person - in the correct environment, correctly dressed, and with their own face. They sat down in front of me and told me that the doctor had asked them to return for an hour long appointment. I asked them what they had gone to the doctors for, and they said just general checks, blood pressure etc, and they ran some tests, and were now asking for him to return but wouldn't tell him why.

He looked me straight in eyes, and I could see his fear, and asked me whether he should be worried.

I think I immediately woke up, feeling concerned.

Should I take this literally, or is it trying to tell me something else?

This was a few days ago, and it disturbed me so much it is still on my mind.

Hello eskimono

Some dreams can be taken literally, but most are representations and metaphors for something else.

This dream of yours, I do not know. It does have a strange feeling to it, and I can see why you would be disturbed by it.

From a more literal perspective, I see two possibilities. The dream is relaying concerning information about your friend, or the friend symbolizes yourself.

Are you at all concerned about your own state of health? Keep close watch over your cold ... if it gets too bad, go see a doctor.

Have you told your friend about this dream? If not, then you may want to do so. It may or may not have anything to do with him, but relaying the dream will at least give your own mind some measure of peace.

What do you think?

Walk in Peace

Thanks Ra

I think the thing that felt most out of place was that the dream was so literal/correct.

This person never usually appears in my dreams (much as I would like them to!), but when they do there is a always some kind of 'message' and I am very aware when I wake up that I should take notice/try to interpret it. I never usually have this feeling about dreams - seeing them more as interesting adventures -way too much going on to interpret.

I always worry about his health - he smokes and drinks way too much.

However, I guess I am also worried about my own health. I keep coming down with colds and bugs, which stop me exercising, which means I have on weight and lose energy.....and into a vicious cycle. In the back of my mind I worry why my immune system seems so low at the moment.

Why would he respresent me though?

If there is something about ourselves which we may have difficulty seeing or identifying on a conscious level, the psyche will often use another person to represent that aspect or situation concerning self, as it makes it easier for us to see.

Does that make sense?

I'm not saying that this is the case here, just that it could be. In fact, I get the same feeling about the dream you do ... that literal, to-the-point feeling. Have you spoken to the friend yet?

Ah - I see. I have definitely been pushing my concerns to the back of my head, so that would make sense.

I can't speak to my friend as he is currently on vacation, and I think he would think I was mad anyway!! I will mention it though, as it troubles me.

The last time he appeared in my dreams involved me going to his wedding abroad. I managed through the pre-wedding celebrations, but it all became too much and I left before the actual wedding itself. He begged me to stay, and I said I couldn't, as it was just too difficult for me (I loved him deeply at one point, and on some level always will).

I woke up straight after feeling really upset and that feeling stayed with me for days.

The reason it was interesting was that 2 years ago I went to see a psychic who told me that whilst this friend was currently involved with someone else, it was me that he loved, and we would be together. She said 'has this person talked about getting married abroad' and 'I see a wedding ring'. She connected them both to this person and concluded we would marry. It never felt a true prediction to me.

When I had this dream I woke up with absolute certainty that is was a message to let go of the false hope. That he would marry abroad, but it would be his current partner.

Sure enough, 18 months on, they are engaged and plan to marry abroad!

On one of the other threads someone suggested I should start taking more notice of my dreams. So I started the new year with a dream diary. The act of recalling and writing the dreams down was quite illuminating! Last night part of the dream involved my ex-husband and his girlfriend collecting me from somewhere (it was dark, cold, wet, oppressive), they took me to their house and let me sleep in a cot with my daughter(my daughter is 8) - I don't even want to begin to try to understand what that was all about!!

Thanks for your help with this 'health' one, as I said it troubled me enough to seek guidance, so I really do appreciate your interest.

You are welcome. Thank you for sharing your dreams.

The dream you had last night seems to be related to what you are saying ...

A period of rest, probably emotionally, (sleep) following the release of dark/oppressive feelings (you were collected from dark, cold, wet, oppressive place) concerning a past relationship (ex) ... the ex symbolizing your friend, not the ex himself.

Does this make sense to you?

Oh my goodness, I had not really thought about in that way, but it would fit.

New Year is always quite symbolic for me, I see it as an opportunity to mentally let go of the troubles of the previous year and start afresh. I know it doesn't really work like that, but it helps me.

My ex featured throughout, and now I think about the places he appeared, and how those situations developed, and the feelings that went with them, it really does point towards the friend. Lots of promises and expectations of great things, that never materialised. I finally got to a place where I could look objectively, and see that, and move on.

Does that fit?

I am posting this one here, rather than in a new thread, because it is linked to the comments about other people representing you in your dream when there is a message that you can't handle in the first person.

At least I hope that is the case here!!

My best friend is very disturbed by a dream she had involving me.

We were both at a meeting/party at the local school (both of our children attend this school, she works in a different school). All of the teachers were there, plus some other randoms.

The dream developed and her eldest daughters teacher (I have never met him) proceeded to unbutton my shirt in front of everyone (I have an ample bosom), and lick my breasts. I, apparently, was having a wild time. The other people there, including the headmistress, were horrified but we wouldn't stop. They all kept telling him that he had young children and a wife and should not be behaving like this.

He said that he couldn't help himself, as no other woman had ever made him feel like this and he was besotted with me.

Whilst I am very flattered to be the object of such adoration, I can't help think that I actually represented her in the dream?

Can someone help interpret this one?!

Hi eskimono

My first impression is that I agree with you. Hmmm.. so maybe your friend desires this man for herself and like Ra says above dreamt of you because she is not ready to accept its her desire.

Thanks Mystique - I think we can call off the dogs on this one.

I have just been out for a drink with her, and explained my interpretation. She admitted that she does think he is 'wonderful' with the kids, and lots of the mums have a 'thing' about him!!! Errrmm I feel safe in assuming that my theory was correct......but that she covets my bosom??!

This one tickled me!
