Here is a link from Uni Codes.

I've always thought that some dreams are too real and too profound to be just a churning of thoughts and emotions...

What do you think?

according to my phsyc class its to help us grow and learn from life and they reflect whats goin on in our lives...but of course i'm sure everyone knows that...
sigmund frued thought everyones dreams either dealt with sex or violence and that was right around the time when the idea of the subconsious was new and barely circulating...just my 2 cents

edit: oh, i forgot to mention, dreams occur during REM sleep which is IMPERATIVE for our sanity, growth and learning processes...there is a reason why babies sleep more than an adult

Early in the morning, in the middle of the night
Two men got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other
If you dont believe my story is true, ask the blind man who saw it too :P

What about 'dreams' that occur the second you close your eyes (not asleep)? I researched and they're called hypnagogic hallucinations and are i guess common in schizophrenic patients, but there seems to be more to them...? I mean, they look exactly like dream material.

huh, i never heard of hypnagogic hallucinations..but weird things happen to schizophrenic patients anyways..i'v never experienced a "waking dream," so to say, before and anything close to that usually occurs while i'm waking up instead of falling to sleep...my hypothesis is those who experience this are close to REM sleep either from sever exahaution (i so didnt spell that right) or has something wrong with them

Most people have experienced a hypnogogic jerk, which is when you are just drifting off to sleep and then you feel as if you've actually fallen off something, and you wake yourself up.
This is common, and isn't related to schizophrenia, as far as I know.

As far as Freud, I am a big fan, which makes me feel like the character in the show, 'Frasier', which is one reason I like the show so much!!

Alot of people dismissed Freud's theories once Jung came along, and I think because all that sex stuff makes people a tad uncomfortable, and Jung's ideas were a little more easy on the mind.

But,, in many ways we are still primal beasts, and what better time then in dreaming can we express this without the conditoning of 'wrong vs. right'.

Just another alternative... so many out there.

Yes, Nicki, I agree on the sheer exhaustion bit. Lately when I go to sleep -absolutely exhausted- (which is my favorite way to get into bed) I immed start seeing the most frightening monster crazy images the second I close my eyes, but then I have to open my eyes cos it's scary but im so tired so i close my eyes, and on and on..
Maybe my unconscious is telling me to take a break

Here's a link to what I was talking about.

I loved Frasier big crush on Niles..who seemed Virgoan to me.

Has anyone read Jung's book on dream analysis? I saw one on amazon yesterday and want to check it out, as I love Jungian psychology, the archetypes play so perfectly into astro.

I used to have Jung's book "Man and His Symbols" and could kick myself for getting rid of it.

I seem to have a lot of "night terror" type dreams where I wake up sobbing.

Lonake, yes Niles is quite Virgoan to me too!

mermaid, do you have repressed emotions? maybe in the dream they bubble over to relax your waking mind.

Lonake, I'm a Pis/Vir rising and I surely must have some repressed emotions. Add my "suggested" past lives' deeds and Eight destiny and well ... let's just say there's never a dull moment in my tangled web of thought. It's all cool though, as I'm pretty good at unraveling tangled threads and putting puzzles pieces together.
