Topic: The people who inhabit our dreams.?

Last night I had a dream that I was being taught to play the shamisen.But the thing I did think of more in the dream was, "Who are these people who populate our dreams?" They are (or seem to be) as alive as I am now, with full 3d characters and lives of their own, I have dreamt of women who have given me their love and when I wake up I think where did that all come from? Sometimes they have told me their names, but after looking them up on the net they don't seem to exist on this plane..? no trace found. Yet to what purpose would my mind go to create such extensive people, just so I could dream of them? Or, am I their dream...?!

Hello starfox  I believe the majority of those in our dreams are representations of ourselves, aspects of our own psyches created by our minds so that we may gain a glimpse into our own complexities and come to know ourselves. Some others are representations of those we know in "real" life, whether we recognize them in the dream or not. Then there are, from time to time, other entities, and the minds/spirits of other people, who visit us in the dreamtime.  IP: Logged |

Have you ever seen the newer Star Trek spin-offs? Think of dreams as the holodeck. Your subconscious is the program...with the same safeguard not to harm you. And also what Ra said about everything, including visitors.IP: Logged |

I tend to dream about soulmates a lot where I can even sense their energy and presence in my dream. The only problem is they aren't soulmates I'm readily in contact with, so I can't say that they were visiting me although we exchange niceties in the dream and real questions get validly answered (how are you, I missed how.. what have you been up to etc). The one soulmate I have dreamt about where we dreamed about eachother was when we were sleeping together and we had similar dreams about our relationship (basically that it wouldn't work which is what I was trying to tell him in real life). In his dream we were trying to bake a cake and didn't have enough ingredients and in my dream he was sitting at the dining room table and I just threw my hair out and all this water went out everywhere and I left and went to look at Siva's home on mount Machapuchare. Supposedly you tend to dream more similar dreams to the person next to you, but I'm not sure how that works. Kind of related but unrelated..You might find Robert Monroe's astral projection experiments during dream time interesting. Though I don't know that they'd necessarily mirror the dreams of the individuals he visited. Most souls know how to give other people dreams and visit them there, we've just forgotten while incarnated/awake. When I first met my most psionically gifted friend apparently I showed up in his dreams and taught him how to meditate. I'm pretty sure he sensed my presence. I of course have no recollection .
