I just wanted to ask if anyone else here keeps a dream diary.?I've had one going for years now, I write down details of my dreams on wakening, sometimes its a paragraph or more and other times just a word or two. I have found quite a few repeating themes to my dreams after looking back at what I have written. IP: Logged |

I have been planning to keep one over the years. And never got to actually penning it down. But since many of the dreams i got in the last decade were indicative i am thinking of writing them down. But again sometimes i wonder what point would it serve? Hamlet.IP: Logged |

Well, one problem people have is that they don't want to wake all the way up to write down their dreams, and even with the best of intentions, we forget them once awake. I mean, I've forgotten dreams that were so poignant I could almost taste them. They just slip away with the dawn, you know?
So, what I have done for the past few years is keep a notebook on my bed. Actually, there are several notebooks on my bed, but that is another story. Anyway, and so when I have the dream, I roll over and jot down just a few key words. It has to be enough for me to connect A to B, so to speak. Over the years I've taught myself my own specific dream shorthand, and so can you guys if you want to. You'd be surprised at how much more meaningful our dreams are when we remember them CORRECTLY, because, what happens is.. typically we remember parts of them, and our brains are wired to fill in the rest. And since nobody really enjoys "bad" things, alot of times the endings that we fill in are not only inaccurate, but in fact, OPPOSITE of what we really dreamt. (which may or may not be "bad" once all the symbols and feelings are analyzed.) So, these are some reasons to consider keeping one. IP: Logged |

Yep, if you take a few notes, it will all come back to you the next morning when you read over them...especially if you say before bed, "I will wake up when I have a dream and remember it." I don't remember most of my dreams at all until after I read what I wrote. It works!IP: Logged |

I just saw this on facebook, timely, eh?Dreams can connect Us to possibles outcomes we want or with people to give Us a message. Always try to remember your dreams, there can be an important interpretation on it, maybe its your own consciousness talking to you, or maybe its an Angel whispering you with a solution. May your dreams always be peaceful : Here are 2 good websites where you can interpret your dreams http://www.dreamforth.com/ http://www.dreammoods.com/ IP: Logged |

I recently read a method one woman uses to induce lucid dreaming....she suggests starting out with a dream journal. When you write down your dreams immediately after having them, they are stored in your memory more easily...and after a while of writing down a lot of dreams, your brain will realize (while sleeping) that you are in fact dreaming and from there you can become lucid and control your dreams.IP: Logged |

I keep a dream diary, too. It's so much fun reading them later. Sometimes I'll realize some significance in a dream years later, even though I thought it was stupid when I was writing it down. ------------------ Whatsoever desires one entertains That he definitely obtains IP: Logged |

this is a problem for me! i used to as a teenager, and i had a huge interest in dream interpretation. as i got older it became sporadic, but i still did (though i never got better at interpreting them, do i have no imagination??). when i got my computer, i started a dream journal on it.but then 2 years ago my computer died... it ended up being the fault of the bad hardware that shipped with the machine, so i could get it replaced for free. but i didn't back up my data and i lost all my 3-year diary entries, including the dreams... now i back up at least once a week, but i was so shocked by losing all that stuff, i could not get back to the habit! Leichen, I am so uber pananoid about losing stuff on computers because I lost all my pictures once. So, I feel your pain. You could always write them on your computer, and then maybe just print them out, or jot down the ones that seem really meaningful.
As far as imagination, I'm sure yours is just fine. Alot of dream interp is symbolism, and you can learn that by looking them up online. And some of it is just what is symbolic to each individual. By that I mean, say I got bit by a big dog when I was little and it was very scary and painful. Instead of the traditional 'dog' meaning that you can read online, MY meaning when dreaming of dogs may be my fears, or pain, or some kind of warning. It's just a matter of putting all the pieces together like a puzzle. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another, that's why it's good to discuss them, b/c another person may have a viewpoint that you would totally never think of yourself, but when you hear it, it's like a bell goes off and you know. Gypsee, i'd first need a printer too, LOL. i don't know what it is, it's almost like laziness, but i think i'm hesitating for no valid reason, isn't that annoying! somehow, when i have dreams i can "guess" what the symbolisms may mean (and with the help of online dream dictionaries too). but i'm awkward with putting the pieces together and seeing the whole picture of it, you know what i mean? and when there are a few pieces i don't know how to interpret, it's like having a 40-50% complete puzzle you can kind of see what the picture is, but actually not at all? i feel so frustrated! but it's really fascinating, like once in a while, my childhood neighbour's daughter who i went to school with appears in my dream. she wasn't my best friend or anything, but she keeps coming back, no one else. i suppose she is representing something about my own self, but i'm so curious why her! I've been keeping one for the past few years, and looking up interpretations online. Sometimes guessing the symbolism myself based on which lunar day it was, too... I started keeping track of dreams ever since I saw how precisely they were coming true. Recently though, I've only been writing down the ones that gave me a good feeling. I don't think I want to remember nightmares, I'm too tired of bad things being predicted. IP: Logged |
