Hi all

Can't quite remember all of the context of the dream but I was on an old english estate with a huge forbidding building. There was some sort of battle going on and two people I cared about in the dream had to sacrifice themselves by throwing themselves from the top of the building. Fear, worry and grief were the feelings of the dream.

Not nice at all

Sparklingsag,

bear with me here, I will try to explain what I see, but I don't usually pick at dreams in a linear fashion, so this may be all over the place, also, my interpreting develops as I write, and we have to bear in mind I can only 'suggest', the best interpreter will always be the dreamer.

Old english stately life would be quite stifling and restrictive, many airs and graces that on the surface imply refinement, but at the emotional, mental and spiritual levels (espcially for women) equalled repression.

I would venture that you feel your two friends are in a situation that they may have to take drastic measures to get out of. But, going deeper than that, may I suggest that you fear whatever changes they may have to go through, perhaps in case it shakes your connection with them. There's no shame in this, even the most spartan of us fear change in ourselves and others, there is a deep-seated need in the primal mind for security, it remembers when we had to constantly fight for shelter and survival.

The battle seems to signify your perception of them, or something they may be going through. We could however take it the other way - perhaps you are struggling with something, maybe the battle is yours, and you are worried it may lead to the loss of your two relations, that they may want to cut ties with you (signified by the throwing themselves from the building - essentially a bond sucide). The fact that they are doing this together, may also suggest that you feel their bond is stronger with each other than you, and that you may be 'the last one standing' so to speak.

I would interpret the house, and it's formidable presence as a self-made prison - I can't say if this is your prison, their's, or one that you are all inside. Because you feel such strong emotions in the dream, I'd say the prison has an emotional basis rather than a practical one - but the emotional flavour could be caused by a practical situation, with the house being material. In your perception, your two relations are essentially escaping from this. I can't say for sure whether their approach is encouraging you to 'take the plunge' with them, or not, but it is my feeling that they are.
This is the way with dreams, often they will show you a positive thing in a negative way, coupled with negative emotions. But they can also just show you plainly what could happen - so the plunge could be a warning, or advice. Only you will know which.

Hope I may have helped a little.

Hello Voir-De-la-Mer (cool name btw)

Thank you for the time and your insightful reading.Indeed there was much more to the dream that I cannot remember, certainly the battle was emotional, family and friends I think. The house certainly reminded me of the mental and signified a prison of sorts. Regarding my life right now there is certainly several battles going on both with family and friends. I am having to cut emotional ties with my mum due to our family history and her inability to be there for me as a mum. I have a male friend who is in a relationship he wishes to be out of but hasn't cut the ties. I also am still trying to cut the ties with my ex bf, in my dark moments, I miss him although he was not good for me.

It seems all complicated, the dream is perhaps a reflection of my internal and external struggles. I am coming to terms with many things and part of me recently "wanted to take the plunge" and start a new life somewhere but it wasn't so simple to do that so am staying put as I have a good job.

Anyway, at least my subconscious is sorting through the issues I am having too.

Hey Sparklingsag,

you're welcome, thank you for receiving my thoughts. I'm sorry about the trouble you are having with loved ones atm, but yes, the fact that you are dreaming about them, and remembering enough detail in the dream to grasp its meaning, is a great sign that your mind is whirring it over, working through rather than resisting (a resistance dream would have been much less clear, with a lower level of relevance to the conscious situation) and that you are aware of how things are affecting you on a deeper level. Wishing you peace soon

Your dream reminds me so much of the tarot card 'The Tower'.!

does that resonate in any way with you?

Hello, yes it does! The people jumping certainly does. I googled its meaning and it seems awful! But to be honest , if it is about false/truth, breaking down of beliefs then that has all happened to me in the past two months already. Illusions and veils have been lifted (I have had counselling for a few weeks to come to terms with family issues) and there was a point not long ago where it felt like a veil had been lifted from me regarding my past and my position in my family.

What does Tower card mean to you?

I had another dream last night (was more of a conscious low level dreeam) about my ex bf and how I was in a town by the coast and arranging a party and a friend called me to tell me she had seen my ex at the bus stop in the centre of town. Buses have frequented the dreams with my ex and months ago I dreamt he and I were on a bus and he sat in front of me. Someone at the time suggested he and I will cross paths and we did some time later. Interesting to me that perhaps he is thinking of me and is stopping by in his mind. We'll see but it was no way as powerful as the dream about the towers and sacrifice.
