What does it mean to dream of dogs?I am curious, cause over the course of a few months now there this recurring motif, set in toally different dreams. I am always encountering the dog, when it is night/ dark. He bites me, though in the first set of dreams, he actually just clasped my wrist with his teeth, almost like to get my attention, but did not hurt me at all. The dog last night was a bit more aggressive, but not really hurting me either, though he was not really interested in biting after my wrist. Oh and this one had white or light fur instead of the dark of the dogs before. Oh and even though these dogs are biting me or trying to, they are not hurting me and I don`t really feel they are dangerous or aggressive. It is almost like they want to get my attention. *scratches head* Since this is a recurring motif, I get the feeling my subconsciousness is trying to tell me something. IP: Logged |

Hello Ceridwen Indeed, your subconscious is trying to tell you something. Dogs can have many meanings, and a lot of the meaning depends upon what you think/feel about dogs. A dog can represent loyalty, either to yourself or others. It can represent a need to be on guard, or a need to protect yourself emotionally/mentally. It can represent instincts or intuition. How do you feel about dogs? If you were to take the place of one of these dogs in your dreams, can you imagine what the dog is trying to get your attention about? IP: Logged |

A dog 'biting" you in a dream indicates gossip by one you trust. They are attacking through biting words. The surrounding circumstances in the dream will help you to identify who this person is. Depending on the nature of the bite, if it is vicious, not too hard, extra soft, etc,. Each of these identifying symbols will indicate the voracity of this person's insulting intent, whether they are just a gossiper by nature or they intend to harm you through their gossip. Based on what you indicated about your dream, in this particular circumstance, it wasn't too detrimental but it is someone you trust and apparently they are trying to get your attention. Do you have children? Also remember, spirit is multifaceted and all symbols mean multiple things at the same time. ------------------ Truth & Integrity in all things. Whereabouts, thank you for your reply; but, no it`s not a gossip thing. The motif has clear psychological roots, at least for me personally. Ra, I think I know the answer. Thanks for the push into the right direction. I do am wary of dogs in real life, too. They are very impulsive and unpredictable in showing their "affection". lol IP: Logged |

You're welcome. Just be conscious of the meaning: to be bitten by a dog in a dream, means to be double crossed by someone you trust.------------------ Truth & Integrity in all things. The Truth is the answer to everything. IP: Logged |

Whereabouts, thank you for your effort, but I prefer a more psychological approach to interpreting dreams; in fact I donīt believe in these kinds of predictive dream interpretations, that do not take the individual condition into account. IP: Logged |

I understand where you're coming from, however; I know what I know. A universal symbol doesn't require an individual emotional and/or psychological perspective for it's symbolism is universal. Additionally, dreams, just like spirit, are multifaceted and mean multiple things simultaneously. They are never linear. Whether or not you believe in something doesn't alter it's inherent meaning but I do understand.Good luck and have a great day! quote: Originally posted by Ceridwen: Whereabouts, thank you for your effort, but I prefer a more psychological approach to interpreting dreams; in fact I donīt believe in these kinds of predictive dream interpretations, that do not take the individual condition into account.

As I do, too. However, I agree with you that dreams are multifaceted and have different layers of meaning. I donīt doubt that for example the barking of dogs could relate to gossip, but I know that the individual situation and context has to be taken into account. But okay, I think we might simply disagree on this. Have a great day, too. IP: Logged |
