Dream last night -

I was back in high school but at the age I am now. I never graduated high school - I left early and got my GED (in real life) so in my dream I went back to get an actual diploma.

Next think I know we're in a school bus going on a field trip. The bus driver was driving recklessly along the way but no one seemed to notice except for me. I yelled at him and students thought I was overreacting at first but soon came to see that I was right and thanked me for saving them.

We arrived at our destination at the beach and at first I was excited but I realized it wasn't the beach I wanted to be at. The ocean was turning, the water was black, there were little boats out there with seamen fighting something in the water, the sand was black and looked charred.

I ran towards the sand screaming "WHY DID THEY BRING ME HERE?? WHY HERE?!" I fell to my knees and to my right was a humming bird feeding from what had been a flower but it was all burned - the hummingbird wasn't alive, it was ashes just stuck in midflight. My hands touched the black sand and I pulled up a blue robin's egg. It was broken and I could see the little dead bird inside. I dropped it and just sobbed and sobbed and asked over and over why was I brought there - I didn't want to be there.

After much crying I reached down again and picked up the broken egg. I realized it wasn't a dead bird inside but I tiny dead fetus. It was grey and lifeless with translucent skin. I cradled the egg with such sadness and as I watched I saw a little heartbeat. Then the veins under the skin started to fill with blood and life. It blinked and looked at me and I realized it was holding another little fetus under its arm.

I get the fetus symbolism. I am trying to get pregnant, afterall. We are underway with our first try at invitro-fertilization.

The hummingbird, the horrible beach, the bus - I don't really know. It's much easier for me to look at someone else's dream objectively.

Getting pregnant is something you have done before (GED) and are now trying to do again in a different way (diploma). You do not feel in control (reckless bus driver), but are excited about the prospects (excited about beach).

You have a deep fear that this is not going to work. All of the symbols relate to your fears of a failed process, of infertility. The ocean symbolizes the womb which, in the dream, is inhospitable and harbors something dangerous which the "seamen" (semen) are fighting. The black, charred sand also represents fear, and death. The hummingbird and flower are the same as the seamen and the ocean, a fertility symbol, but ashen and dead. A broken egg, a little dead bird, the same meaning. It's no wonder you are crying and sobbing, this is definitely not where you want to be.

The dream changes.

Of all the different eggs your unconscious mind could conjure, why a robin's egg? The light blue color symbolizes spirit/divinity, and birds are a symbol of spirit as well. The red-breasted robin contains the color of life, no coincidence I'm sure. And, a bird being lifted from the charred ground? I can't help but to draw parallels with phoenix symbolism.

And then there is life within the bird-turned-fetus.

The second fetus I can only speculate about. A second look, a second fetus, a second chance or attempt perhaps? Or twins?

I can only hope and pray that the dream is telling you not to give up, regardless of how things seem or how much you may fear the worst.

What do you think?

You're amazing, Ra.

I may be controversial here but it sounds like a backwards kinda of dream. The dead fetus is the culmination of the chaos around you. Therefore it was sort of a judgment that you prescribed yourself of. A bad driver, someone drove you badly to the deserted deathy hallow beach where the sun should shine and life should bring forth but instead you had a dead fetus in your arms with much grief and sorrow. I would say there is an abortion theme in this. Its the unconscious way of getting it across. I may be entirely wrong but that's what I intuited. An egg is also a symbol of life. You know I would say is the driver may be you or a driving force in your life that is driving you to kill a part of you or someone else that should otherwise have life.

Edit: I see your doing invitro then in this case it just means keep hope alive! I wonder if you ever had a miscarriage. I would also advise to consult with an astrologer on astrologyweekly.com people ask these questions over there too!

I agree with Ra there is also a theme of hope I just read her post and I would say choose life within yourself!!

Perhaps when you had compassion on yourself it was the beginning of the realization that you would have a child and perhaps because the child had another fetus within it could symbolize twins or you'll be a grandma. Good luck!

lol - I better not be a grandma for a very long time. My son is only 13

i have had several miscarriage, btw. So I'm very excited to try the invitro but I'm scared that 1. it won't work or that 2. it WILL work but I will miscarry regardless.

It seems your dream was your way of dealing your loss and your expectancy although sometimes only God knows.. good news is I've seen videos of kids who tell their parents their brother or sister is in heaven or what not and their mom is like what? how did you know that? it was because they knew the kid's name without having prior knowledge of the fact... I have also read that they grow up in heaven but I am not sure as to how old. If you google it you might find information about it.

Here's one: http://www.therightscoop.com/four-year-old-met-mothers-miscarried-baby-in-heaven/
