I've been having a lot of dreams involving animals and they're all really scary to me.

In one dream, a belly dancer gave me a huge snake to hold (it was a boa constrictor) and while in real life I am NOT afraid of snakes, in the dream I was. The boa kept wrapping itself around my arm and trying to consume my hand..it was laying on top of me and it was really heavy. i was so scared of the snake in the dream and I had to keep sucking up the courage to face it and just let it do its own thing.

In another dream, I was taking care of a lost dog named Flesch..that's what it said on its name tag. It was talking to me like a human being and I kept trying to call the phone number on its tag to contact the owner, but the phone number kept changing and the dog wouldn't leave. The fact that it could talk like a human was weirding me out so I kicked it out of my apartment.

Next thing I know, a naked rat jumps through my window and is also talking to me like a human but it's saying really evil things..i can't remember what it was saying but it was evil, scared the sh*t out of me, and i tried desperately to kill the rat. I was trying to rip its limbs off with my teeth and banging it violently on my counter top. I finally ripped it in half and threw it out in the yard. It came back to life and tore its way through my window screen and came after me again. I tried lighting the rat on fire and it took the flame within itself and then opened its mouth and breathed out fire. I ripped it in half again and threw it out again and then it was gone.

The rat thing really scared me...I actually woke from that dream, terrified of everything around me. The feeling lingered for quite a while. I'm also not afraid of rats in real life, so these dreams are really confusing to me.

What do you think?

ok, i'm not so great at this but animals are supposed to represent primal instinct right so the violence in your dreams could be something which is making you angry in real life but also something that you are repressing. Maybe you are applying human characteristics to the animals because you are beginning to realise that these primal feelings in you apply to everyone but this idea makes you uneasy? Apparently snake can be phallic imagery (whaddayaknow, surpise, surprise!) and can symbolise temptation etc. so maybe you feel restricted by your own desires like how you are being squeezed by the snake. the rat could be disease or uncleanliness. :/ :/ I gave my best shot

Hello frankie

Cancercaite, you did great! Very good insights.

Animals in general are often unconscious projections of some aspect of ourselves. Talking animals, however, are particularly personal.

The talking dog and talking rat may represent an aspect of yourself that you do not particularly like, one that you would like to get rid of but are having difficulty doing so. Sometimes the type of animal can offer a clue. Is there an issue with loyalty, fidelity, security, or unconditional love (dog)? Have you been a "rat"?

The snake may represent something/someone in your life, maybe something within yourself, which is wrapping you up, constricting or disabling you. It could be suggested that you are having difficulty reaching out, doing, or handling some issue (snake around arm/hand). On some level you know that you must "keep sucking up the courage to face it".

Does this make sense to you at all?
