For as long as I can remember, I have always been an avid daydreamer. However, there are some circumstances, in which my daydreams get a "spin". Usually it happens when I am riding on a bus/ train or in a car (to the point that when something moves and I am a passenger, I fall in a half-trance. lol). That is the thing though, even though I am awake, I am not. Sort of a different state of consciousness, which is not sleep/ dream,b ut also not awake either. Also, in the morning or at night, I seem to be able to linger longer around the threshold to falling asleep than most people; sort of in a kind of "limbo". I thought it was normal, until I mentioned it to my brother. However, when I am in these "half-meditative" state of mind (on the bus or somewhere), and I am having daydreams, these often get an unexpected spin. Sometimes so surprising, that it jolts me completely awake again.
Anyway I just wanted to ask if you day dream, do you get sometimes surprised by how situations develop in your daydreams?
(I always thought WE conrol our daydreams and direct them, but then I would not get surprised, would I?) IP: Logged |

Hello Ceridwen You are talking about the hypnogogic state, that place between asleep and awake. Lots of strange and curious things can happen there! This state of consciousness can be a wonderful springboard into the truly Astral Realms via the OBE. IP: Logged |

i definitely know the feeling of being lulled into daydreams, especially in moving vehicles, if i am a passenger. i think it's like the motion of rocking a baby, the moving motion of the bus or train makes me sleepy lolthe 'jolts' i used to get, in the back of my lecture room, as though i were falling down the stairs or something. i also get it as i'm falling asleep normally sometimes, a dream of falling or tripping, which immediately wakes me up...i take it to be the soul or conciousness re-entering the body kinda like an abort mission lol IP: Logged |

Thank you, Ra.Yes, hypagnogic state. Makes sense. And yes about crazy things happening there. Well in my case it is simply about meeting one particular person (no matter what I had been seeing, reading,t hinking before going to bed). Since this has been going for several weeks now, I got pensive about it. Anno-lucis, yes I know what you mean.
But this state I was describing was more or less like a "gliding scale" into consciousness, though I know these jolts very well. Like you are being slumped down into your own body. Funnily my Dad asked us today (at family dinner) if we ever dreamed of flying (I had mentioned something about the Essenes, and it apparently triggered a memory in him, and he never recalls any dream, but apparently he had dreamed he was flying across the sea Genezareth - and he is not even very religious!). My mom mentioned that though she does not recall flying-dreams, she recalls several startling dreams, in which she was facing herself lying far below her in bed. Neither of my parents believes in out of body experiences though. IP: Logged |

neither do mine. i used to try and convince my mum by trying to contact her while out of body, usually she would just report some spooky happening in the night lol. bit of a waste of resources as she's still not convinced.my dad's more open minded generally, but i think his overall outlook is that there is nothing beyond this physical life (he is triple earth) tell us some of your experiences Ceri! I relate to everything you're saying!!! I bus everywhere and am otherwise a passenger in a car so yes I day dream often and can be suprised by what it comes up with! I would also agree its like another state of consciousness.I also take a long time in that "limbo" state before sleep! I orchastrated a whole world in that limbo state once and thought I'd write a short book about it (of course I never finished..ha) But u love the topic. I'm curious what kind of things suprised you when you day dream? IP: Logged |

I don`t try to convince my parents. I sort o think everyone has to find their own way. I donīt think if it was wise telling aobut my experiences.

As for the question, well, I can`t really go into detail, but these daydreams seemed to imply that I might have a deeper attraction to someone as I originally thought. I guess slowly it is time to put up the white flag and surrender. IP: Logged |

I daydream a lot. I think it's because of my pisces moon and my mercury-neptune conjunction. Do you have any significant pisces or neptune placements Ceridwen?IP: Logged |

I do this too, Pisces. Yup hypnagogic, completely agree with Ra's response. Now I induce it at will to lull myself to sleep, it works fast,...it's pretty funny that there's a clear path to that side of ourselves but it's sort of fun to do, you never know what you'll see. Ra, I didn't know this was the state where you'd go for OBE, is that while seeing the imagery/scenes, or just before?IP: Logged |
