I had this dream earlier that I was being chased by a man who was carrying a black snake. The snake darted its tongue on me. For a second I thought I was bitten, but I felt like I wasn't harmed in my dream. I dunno how I was able to escape the man with a black snake. Before I woke up, all I remember was that I was running and the man was chasing me.

What do you think this means?

Hello soulstress

This dream could suggest that there is something, an energy/experience/issue (snake) within your sub/unconscious that you do not wish to recognize or acknowledge (black). It likely has to do with a man in an aggressive or threatening position.

Does this make sense to you? Is it something you would like to explore the possibility of?

err.. I don't understand. :-/
Whatever it is that I don't want to recognize, I definitely have no idea.

I had dreamt about snakes before. I remember dreaming of a large snake, in fact as large as an anaconda. But I never feared those snakes in my dreams. I think in this dream, it was the man that I feared and not the snake.

In last night's dream I was being chased again. I set the man who chased me on fire. How I did it, I dunno. I didn't help him or something. All I did was stand in front of him and watch him burn.

You see being chased is very common in my dreams. Most of the time I felt like the man who's chasing me is going to hurt me so I need to run..hide..and protect myself.

Hi

Being chased a lot? So what is it in real life you are 'running away' from? What is threatening to you? The man most likely represents a part of yourself you do not find pretty to look at (or feel uncomfortable with); a certain way of behaviour perhaps?

Can you remember more about the dream? Was it dark? Were you alone? What was the setting?
What was it about the man that made you afraid?
How do you feel about snakes in general? What do they represent to you/do they remind you of?

Same for your follow up dream: How did you feel when you set him on fire? Is there something in real life you are not attending and will 'self destruct' if you keep ignoring it?

Hope these questions will get you started bit.

It happened outside our house. It was dark. I was running in the street. When I found a car at the sidewalk, I immediately hide at the back of the car. That's all I remember.

In the 2nd dream, it was like in a building. I can't exactly tell where it was. I was running upstairs and a man was running after me. Suddenly I stopped running and set him on fire. I can't really remember how I did it. I felt like it was the only way. I didn't feel anything. No pity or remorse...nothing.

I don't know what made me scared of the man. I just feel scared. In the dream, never did I once attempt to talk to the man. All I did was run everytime. The dream always ended up that way. It was either I was running or I'm hiding.

Snakes for me are representation of danger, (hidden?) fears, enemies, dark/negative emotions/thoughts. I associate them with something negative.

The latter I think is true for me. I indulge to it when I'm angry and I felt like a different person when I am. And when I'm back to my normal self, I'd realize just how bad I am. I always pray and ask for forgiveness after for entertaining such negative thoughts. I know I should never act out any of those thoughts. Those thoughts makes me feel ugly. I hate it.

What I did was I avoided those people who caused me to feel and think this way. I feel safe..normal..when I'm not seeing them or interacting with them.

Personally I don't like snakes. I'd definitely get scared if I see one in real life. Never will I even attempt to touch or even get near a snake. In my dreams I don't understand why I didn't fear them. I remember that I dreamt of a bunch of snakes. There were like 7 of them crawling in the ceiling of my room. All I did was stand and stare at them. They never attempt to get near me so that's probably why I didn't get scared of them? :-/

Hi,

Thanks for the reply

Okay, then what I think is this: the snake (because of it being an animal) represents our instincts. It being black relates to dark thoughts/behaviours. But it's also an highly aggressive animal. So it also relates to that inner felt anger.

What often is forgotten though, is that 'negative emotions' like anger are there to actually help us. Anger shows us where people are 'crossing our (personal) borders' and in which areas we feel powerless, unheard, etc. Looking at it that way, anger is helping us and showing us where we feel something is wrong. So we can work with that energy instead of suppressing it (not saying we need to take it out on others. That's not what I mean). Acknowledging to yourself it is there, is a first step.

The snake is also one of the animals that knows how to transform energies, because it's capable of shedding its skin and totally renewing itself.
You write:
I indulge to it when I'm angry and I felt like a different person when I am. And when I'm back to my normal self, I'd realize just how bad I am. I always pray and ask for forgiveness after for entertaining such negative thoughts. I know I should never act out any of those thoughts. Those thoughts makes me feel ugly. I hate it.

For me this means you are running away from your inner 'darker thoughts and behaviors'. Obviously related to aggression. That's probably also why you set it on fire (destruct it). Thing is though, when we 'ban' emotions like this they get even more angry and the feeling can grow (adding fire to it).

Key is (in my opinion) to acknowledge that you feel anger and you sometimes act towards that. It's not a different person. That is a part of you too. Funny thing is, when we start doing that (acknowledge this to ourselves) it will start feeling less tense, integrate more into yourself, creating extra space. Then there is room to start transforming that powerful snake energy into something useful. Bottom line is, the ‘darker energies’ are already useful and try to help us also.

But ‘society’ says we can’t and must not feel this and that’s how problems start, because if we lock it up in the basement of the subconscious it will get really annoyed.

To sum it up: when you start looking to this tendencies within you with compassion and trying to listen to the actual message of the feelings (what ‘need’ is hidden underneath it), I expect the chasing dreams to stop.

Hope this can be of some help and I put it down clear enough

Good luck

Hi, Twirl:

I acknowledge the 'strong anger' has been there for so long. It was deeply ingrained. I once let it out and a part of me was glad I did, but another part of me wasn't, coz I just gave that person the satisfaction of letting him know how much I was hurt and how much he had affected me. That moment was a horror story for me. I myself was scared by the intensity of the anger I just let out and I'm afraid if I let it out again, I might not be able to control it. It was the type of anger that brought me to tears because it was just too much for me to handle.

I know now that unresolved issues must be dealt with. I need to understand, accept, and let go so I would be healed. I needed to be healed so I can forgive.

Transit Pluto conjunct my natal Moon now. That means I can no longer run away and let the issues remain unresolved. I am now forced to undergo an emotional transformation so I can finally move on and find my peace.

So, there...

Thank you, Twirl. I appreciate your help.

Hi,

There are safe ways to let the anger out. Anger is an upward energy (it wants to move outwards. If you'll give me your mail I'll send you an exercise to work with it in a safe way (so not aimed at a person). Just let me know if you'd like that.

Bye
