So I woke up this morning with awful, sad feeling.

The dream had various scenes, one was of me climbing on a hike with colleagues and passing by signs of marathon runners who had died the week before from exhaustion in the same spot. The area was rough with rubble and some trees.

The scene switched to me in a hospital, I was on my way somewhere but ended up in corridors and stairwell of it and passed a couple, the woman had shaved head as did the man she was with. He suddenly leaned over the stairwell and threw up (chemo perhaps?), I then was in a room with colleague I don't like too much. The hospital stairwell had black rails, dark walls.

That's all I remember, it was a sad dream.

This may be related to work also. The hike & climbing upwards referring to either getting somewhere/climbing the ladder. But it just seems very demanding to follow the lead.
In my opinion the marathon runners relate to guys that have been running the rat race. It's just so exhausting they died! Too much energy going into it.

The hospital also shows you the urge to take time for some healing. Something is not quite right here. It (your current job) might literally make you feel ill.
What's a stairwell?
The corridor may relate to the fact that it's a passing stage. You mostly move upwards in this dream, right? That tells me you are already mostly conscious about this, but are trying it to bring in your consciousness more.
You don't like being in a room with the colleagues (not liking the job much?). Might be eating you up (cancer).

I think you may wanting to consider taking another job. This doesn't feel like a "healthy environment" for you,

Yes, I too had thought it was to do with my job and you are spot on the symbolism I think. Stairwell I wasn't sure for correct name, it's where you have doors leading to corridors and the stairs in the centre of the space.

I do think this job is making me ill! Stress with colleagues who are aggressive, I have worked hard for last three years, trying to complete paperwork for more money but its tough. Part of me wants to look for a new job and environment...

Cancer and healing...I was scared looking at the sick couple, the man was actually throwing up...it made me scared that would be me. I was heading upwards in the dream, the couple were slightly below me.

I did ask a question re: work in Personal Readings but didn't see your reply...will go check it out now.

I agree with you...fear is more that I may be stuck in this job until I metaphorically die. Dream symbolism is potent and strong.
