Topic: I dreamed I was shot

I dreamed I was at my desk at work. A man approached me (I can still see him) not speaking and holding out a while envelope for me to take. I would not take it (in my mind it could've been Anthrax) and I was trying to get him to speak. When I would not take the envelope he pulled out a gun and shot me. I remember seeing/hearing co-workers taking him down/shooting him. I remember laying on a stretcher with one of my co-workers shouting instructions to others about me as she was place an oxygen mask over my mouth/nose; she also spoke comforting/encouraging words to me.
I woke up shortly after this.
What might this mean? I still see him clearly in my mind.

Oh, no. It's actually the nature of the business I'm in that brought about the dream - I'm in Emergency Management (aka Homeland Security) and our offices are in a Fire Dept building. I'm pretty exposed in my cubicle; some of my co-workers are armed, but I am not (never even held a gun).
The dream stayed with me for as vivid as it was and I could easily describe the man to a sketch artist.
I suppose it's not outside the realm of possibility that could really happen; I was just wondering if it might be interpreted as something other than what it was.

Well, yes, it is different, but possibly work related. The letter refers to information/communication. The male is a part of you, the one that acts out into the world.
Since you thought it may be threatening and did not want to take it, it can relate to communication in your life. Quite possibly with others. And/or something coming out/being revealed that may feel threatening (he has to be shot!). Must be some threatening insights in that envelope.
You are not getting enough air (space) and/or aren't 'airing this'. Again pointing to possibly not expressing something. What are you holding inside of you? What is making you anxious? How did you feel in the dream? Just some thoughts. IP: Logged |

I'm going to have to put some thought into this.
Some fear, of course, when the man wouldn't say anything and tried to hand me the envelope and of course when he pulled out the gun.
When I saw my co-worker placing the oxygen mask over my face and telling me I'll be ok, I felt comforted and reassured.
I'm resentful of my 30 y.o. daughter - I've been raising her son for 6 1/2 years - which makes me the lucky one - but I've been raising kids for 30 years and I'd like to experience a life of my own.
