A conch shell is a symbol of femininity, nostalgia, the past. One is used to hearing the sea from inside the conch shell. I feel it might be frightening to not hear anything, especially in the context of the dream, when you try to find out the identity of the murderer. Is something from the past threatens you? It seems to me the frightening thing here is something familiar that suddenly becomes unfamiliar and threatening. It is as if the memory of some past or childhood figure becomes emptied, void and dangerous. Just a thought.

The dream could suggest that you are looking, or should look/listen, within yourself (conch shell) for answers/clues concerning a waking life situation in which there is an aspect of yourself that you want to change/destroy or which you feel is being destroyed (killer/murdered). It seems you have not yet received your answer (no sound). Perhaps you need to listen more carefully, delve a little deeper, or try looking/listening in another manner.

I think like Ayelet's take on the conch shell better.

Are you angry with yourself about something?

Is there something about yourself you want to change or get rid of?

Do you feel as if a part of yourself is being destroyed or suppressed in some way?
