Had what I would call more of a lucid dream than a regular dream last night.

I became aware that somebody was trying to contact me and I was having trouble connecting with whoever it was, so I lucidly forced myself into the state I was in where the following occurred. It felt almost as if I was forcing/allowing myself to fall backwards and let go. Flashes of light spurted through my mind's eye. I have experienced this before, accompanied with the feeling of falling backwards.

Eventually fell into the state that I need to fall into so that whoever was trying to contact me could speak to me. And then they revealed themselves.

I knew straight away it was one of my past life incarnations. We began talking as if we'd been friends for years. She was wearing a long pink dress robe. We were inside her home/place wherever she lived.

We started discussing the white handmade wings that she wore. They hung from her body from a sort of brace around her torso, and protruded from both shoulders. They were quite large and she told me how it was difficult having to wear them, almost with a feeling of regret.

Wearing the wings was further made difficult by having to carry a white scythe around with her. I think from this point I began to realise that she was some sort of priestess. She was in a position of power but also kept in isolation. She was only seen specifically.

I got the feelings that the wings and scythe acted as a sort of symbol of who she was in her religious order. They also acted as a way to submit to chastity.

When I woke up (still like 4am), I did some google searching and came across the concept of the "Crones" is ancient matriarchal Pagan societies. I have had one other past life dream before where I believe I was a woman in a position of power within an ancient matriarchal society as well. Although this more recent dream was definitely from a time much longer ago.

If this was just a dream, what could it be symbolising?

I'm not sure what I could add to your interpretation.

I believe that virtually all animated entities in dreams are an aspect of self.

I tend to think if the dreamer has an interpretation, I am not in a position to correct it, however,
I could maybe add to it, if you point me to the aspect of your own interpretation you are unsure of?

The symbolism of the Crone herself. Why the wings and scythe? Why was she telling me specifically about them?

Have you recently severed a tie that you felt you had outgrown?

I would say there is a theme of maturity, which often comes with some regret if you have a propensity to sentimentality, or,
if you feel you have not done your best.

Hello TempuraNostril

As you believe this was more than just a dream, and I have no reason to doubt you, the question is, what was she trying to convey to you? Since she was trying to contact you, what was the reason?

Being a past life incarnation, she makes up a part of who you are now. What part of her resonates with you?

Sometimes we encounter a past life incarnation for the purpose of fulfilling/completing some part of ourselves that the past is holding on to, some part of ourselves that has been "broken off" and remains "stuck" in the Astral Realms. It is possible to heal what is past by incorporation in order to transform the present. Could this be the purpose?

Sometimes we encounter a past life incarnation for the purpose of reminding ourselves who we are, so the past life entity is attempting to "bring you back" into a more complete/whole state. Could this be the purpose?

From "her" perspective, it is possible that she is reaching into the future, assisting herself (yourself) by trying to understand/heal those parts of Self which have become/will become fractured.

What do you think?

The need to seek empowerment through sexual encounters with other people.

I feel shame associated with circumstances that have occurred over the past few months related to the above.

I feel she was trying to illustrate to me the position of power that she held as a crone/priestess, but also how this position of power was limiting to her experience as a human being.

As above. This position as a sort of spiritual authority gave her a certain position of power, but on the other hand made her powerless in regards to her free will as a human. I think this may specifically relate to inability to initiate relationships with others in a way that isn't inhibited.

I think she is letting me know (from her perspective) how living a life devoted to spirituality can be inhibiting to the soul if that relationship isn't on equal terms in the first place. She is conveying to me that as a human being I should feel equally powerful in regards to my sense of free will, as I should feel towards God or the Source's power of natural law.

This sense of powerlessness I feel as a spiritual being is inhibiting my ability to practice free will as a human being - and my relationship to my spirituality shouldn't be like that. I should feel empowered and not feel disempowered. And I think this complex filters into my current relationships with people in general as well.

I can relate to this.
I often abused my sexuality for power and selfish ecstasy.

I also felt a lot of shame, particularly when I had really degraded myself.

if you have severed this tie, then I assume you are creating some distance from this behaviour - that is great.

I made the decision to not have sex with anyone I didn't love.
That may sound extreme in today's climate, but I was ready to get real, and frivolous sex just wasn't cutting it any more.
