I had a strange dream, like most dreams are. In my dream I was at the beach. I saw my deceased dog from ages ago, who had a cruel life and died from a sneak bite, all alone. Then it was sunset, and I was going into the sea, to a luna park that was there, to be a slave. Afterwards Me and my mom were jumping through a gap between buildings, Where my mom also climbed on a rod to get up. Then I had to write a story in some creative workshop to this professor, and wrote about the dream, as this was all I had to write on the subject given (this is also part of the dream). So I remember myself remembering the dream inside the dream, and telling it.

What do you think?

Hi Ayelet

Do you think your old dog could signify a friendship you have in real life ?Perhaps you are having difficulties with a friendship.I hate to sound cryptic but I have heard of dogs being associated with death and the underworld.maybe a friendship might come to an end.Another possibility I thought of was that Maybe and old friend will return to you or maybe a friend you thought you had lost will reappear in your life.

When you talk about the beach I tend to think of happy times lying on the sand and or having a fun day splashing around in the sea.Although in your dream it seems like the opposite of this. The sun going down makes me think that you might going through some difficult times in real life.I also think it might mean that you might be in the dark about something perhaps in real life there is something which you are unaware of which might cause
you some trouble. It might mean you are about to enter an unhappy or difficult period of your life.

I think the sea would represent your emotions and unconscious mind.I think it also it might be connected to your mother as I have heard of the oceans being described as mother and they do support life.Your mother was also in the dream which could maybe tie in with the sea.
I think that whatever the sea represents it will probably hold some deep meaning for you. Also the sun when it set appeared as if it set into the sea.I think the sea also holds lots of mystery to it hidden in its deep waters so perhaps there are still things that you need to uncover.I would also associate water as an element which can be linked to intuition, dreams and all sorts of spiritual or magical things.

The part about going to the park and being forced into slavery makes me think something in your life is making you feel trapped. It could be possible you are worried about being tricked into something. Is it possible that you feel smothered or trapped by your mother ?I personally think amusement parks can be both really pleasant and unpleasant at the same time.Sometimes you can have a lot of fun and relax and just enjoy yourself but other times parks feel chaotic and feel as if the illusion of the park itself isn't quite what it appears to be.Is it possible something in your life isn't all its cracked up to be ?Perhaps the fact that you where taken into slavery is an indication that the carnival is over and the harsh reality of the situation is about to hit you and bring you back down to earth. There could be some indication of an obligation or duty which will be forced upon you in real life or of obligations or duties which have been forced on you which are bothering you.

I'm not really sure about what the part about you writing about your experience means.I'll guess and say that maybe it just means you will reflect on your past.It could mean that if you are about about to go through difficult times that you will get through them.Perhaps you will be able to look back and realise what went wrong and laugh knowing that you got through your ordeal and you have learned from it.

All of what I have said are only personal thoughts and might not be correct so take them with a pinch of salt.

Please read it as an opinion:
The beach in a dream is a symbol where consciousness and unconscious meet. The general meaning of a dog in a dream is associated with a male aspect, unconditional love, obedience, loyalty and reliability. The snake indicates the male and more aggressive aspect and the slave the obedience part of your dog. As it was your dog, it is your personal definition of the dog that you are contemplating in your dream. The mother and the lunar park indicate the female side of you and the parts you need to let go (=sunset, lake). To repeat a dream in a dream wants you to think about every detail of the dream.

Hi Panthera Leo and GeminiKarat, thanks!

As I think of it, my dog and I met. The issue of responsibility is rising. I didn't know of the connection between dogs and the underworld. That is interesting. Where did you gather this information, Panthera Leo? GeminiKarat, my dog was bitten in real life, not in the dream. Perhaps the issue of loyalty is rising, my loyalty to others, and to the image of my dog. GeminiKarat, perhaps the obedience part of a dog is beng reflected and has to do with my slavery, which comes as an act of loyalty to others. I wonder about the sunset in the sea - could that refer to the underworld? The luna park may be connected with childhood, and me being a slave there may mean adulthood? Negation of adulthood? Being trapped in the past? I guess you have a point, Panthera Leo, when writing about difficult times, but I don't know if that's a forecast. I have been through difficult times in the past few years.

I see my mom as a companion to life. I guess that when we go through the gap between the buildings, we are in an adventure together, going through difficulties, and succeeding. I don't know why I had to write about this dream inside the dream. I guess you are both right. It is both reflecting on the past and thinking of every detail in the dream.

Thank you both very much for your input!

Ayelet when I mentioned the dogs having connections to the underworld I was being quite general.I was thinking that I am sure that I read in various places that dogs seem to have connections
to death and the underworld. I wasn't thinking of a specific source.I have a habit of picking bits and pieces of information here and there and not really paying attention to the source. Although I usually do try to find evidence to correlate with what I have read in order to see if what I have read is plausible. If things check out I usually absorb the information and forget about the source unless about the source sticks in my memory. Its sounds like I'm talking out of my backside but if you give me a little time I'm I can find some sources to back it up.I am really sure I can find something.

Your theory about the slavery being linked to adulthood sounds very plausible.I was probably a bit fatalistic in my reply so I guess it doesn't mean anything bad is going to happen. You are probably right if there was something negative it was likely something from your past.

Those are some sites I have found while quickly searching.I haven't really read through them all at great length and they may not be the best sources but It might help confirm that there are maybe enough people who associated dogs with death and the underworld for the associations to have caught on.If you are interested in this you should probably try find a good writer who really knows what they are talking about.

Thank you Panthera Leo, I will check these sources. This is the second time I am dreaming of my dog and I wonder why. The fact that my dog is dead may connect him with the underworld, though this has happened a long time ago and he probably has reincarnated by now.

That is a very good connection to your dream. The meaning that your dog had to you in real life has the same meaning in the dream. I guess Cerberus is the dog you are looking for. He guards the entrance of the underworld to prevent the dead from escaping and the living from entering.

You are welcome and I wish you all the best!
