Got a Tarot reading, was told contacting my ex would end in a violent death. Cut to me standing with him as he walks me down a flight of steps to the basement of a childhood home of mine. He then pulls out a gun and shoots me in the head and then proceeds to continue shooting every inch of my body with bullets till I am a bloody pile of flesh. He then picks up the pile of flesh (me) and throws me outside somewhere. He walks back inside the basement where I am resurrected (in a spirit form) floating in front of him, smiling and saying "I'm still here". He "notices" me and just walks away.

I then woke up.
Sorry for the gory details.

What does it all mean?
I do have Transit Sun moving through my 8th house, trine Natal Neptune in 4th house.

There are a few ways to look at this dream, and GeminiKarat and Ayelet have touched on good points. The end message seems to be pretty much the same.

The Tarot reading could reflect your intuition - you know it is probably not a good idea to contact the ex. Or it could reflect anxiety about the future, or some hope for a resolution. It can also reflect Fate, that which was/is meant to be, that which is "in the cards".

I think the next part refers to what happened in the relationship. He brought you down (walks you down steps), injured and caused you pain (shot/bloody pile of flesh). You felt unimportant, ignored, and/or discarded (throws body out somewhere). There is a lot of anger and hostility involved (violent death/gun/shot/killed). This anger/hostility is either directed towards you from him, or it is anger towards yourself, or perhaps a combination. It is suggested that your ex "killed" a part of you, or that you need to "kill"/destroy some aspect of yourself. Either way, it is necessary for your growth - out with the old, in with the new. Death symbolizes this transformation.

On one level, the dream is saying that no matter what the ex does/did to you, or how much pain the relationship caused, you survive. On another, the dream death is about casting off the old to make room for the new. On another, the dream death is about rising above the situation, seeing the experience as part of a larger, karmic play. Perhaps you can see this experience (the ex) as an opportunity to see things from a broader, higher, more spiritual perspective. Perhaps the relationship was meant to be (Tarot) in order to assist your spiritual growth.

This man used me and abused me for years. I finally let him go 4mths ago. I think this and all dreams are bits and pieces of things that need to tell us something for our future self and or Rid our brains of negative thoughts so that we may move on to a healthier place.

To me, this dream was telling me to never return to him AND that I am a survivor.
