I am sorry, I do not have this experience, but I guess that those things can happen. A certain smell can be associated with memories.

Really? how was it?

Smell happens very rarely in dreams and when it does, it involves very strong emotions. If not, it's an astral travel or premonitory dream, that's the only way it could happen. I've experienced this only two times in my life, in two premonitory dreams with very very strong emotions in there

Yes, I've had that happen, quite recently actually. I could smell the shampoo in someone's wet hair when I hugged him. It was so tangible, actually, I could still smell it when I woke up.

And no, it wasn't my shampoo.

My dream was very strange.

I was with my mother and sister and we were walking down the street. All of a sudden we were in a garden and there were flowers everywhere and I felt like I was going to get married. Like my life has been planned and that's what I am here for. I was trying on my dress and everything. Then we left and started walking down the street and there was a sewer and I could smell how bad it smelt... Then my mom was pregnant and it was a surprise but she was happy.

It sucks that I smelt something like a sewer. I have no idea what it means.

Something stinks.

What is getting in the way of your ideal?

I did last night, both smell and taste, which was extremely unusual for me (in the past I even realized I was dreaming because of a lack of smell and taste).

I think it was about my childish self or what many would call the "id" after instant gratification. There was a nightmarish girl and though little she was mighty and could call forth powerful spirits to do her will...yet they were also easily fooled (for example, she shook me down for money so when I was about to see her again I threw all my money in a random file cabinet so I wouldn't know EXACTLY where it was as it was a mess--and also on the top story of a house--and said I gave the money to my responsible granny, probably meaning for my responsibilities and obligations, with the intent of "taking it back if she didn't get it by the time the girl left" and when the girl shook me down for money again her pet spirit was fooled and I got to keep it).

Though nightmarish I wasn't frightened of her, just wary (but also patient and I was trying to get her to be happier as well as to show more maturity for her own good), and I was more concerned with protecting others from her than myself. As it is I've been having to save money a lot more than normal and being cranky the last few days I've repressed some harsh words and actions, and I believe that little girl represents what I repressed in myself...especially as in addition to what I just shared regarding the money she was angry at the laughing Vulcans (Star Trek) which I believe is my more logical mind that tries to find the funny side of things rather than act out in anger or surrender to emotions represented by the little girl.

Also, she loved pear ice cream (which I never had in my life) and curious I smelled and then tasted it and found it very nice which frustrated the girl why I didn't work with her more. I've checked dream symbols and pears tend to represent good emotions (especially sexual which could be linked to aggression or even just the pleasure principle in general that's not meant to be restricted to sex) and ice cream represents childhood, but can also represent pleasant emotions or benefits that quickly "melt away" or even leave a headache. And that makes sense, if I splurged or lashed out then I'd have the pleasure of instant gratification but I'd not want what would happen after the instant gratification melted away.

And I just remembered a guy sharing about how a spirit guide that talked to him in waking life and showed him the future in dream described that he could smell the inside of a car, and that exact car shown to him in the dream was the car his dad brought home about a week later (and he didn't even know his dad was getting a new car).
