So, there was a lot more to this dream but the part that stood out was that I was on vacation and walking through a large area/structure like a shopping mall (a maze? lol) and carrying a cup of coffee.

I took a sip of it as I was walking and thought there was something off about it but I wasn't sure what... I looked down and saw something bob to the top and slowly an entire rat floated up to the surface. At first I was sure it was dead and I was horrified that I had drank something with a dead rat in it.

But then the rat began to move and I realized that it was alive and I was so grateful. I'm not sure if I was grateful about this was because drinking live rat is better than drinking dead rat (ew) but I must admit I do love rats. I consider them incredibly intelligent and I think they're cute as well. I should add that the rat sat in front of me and his fur instantly dried. No clue what that means if anything.

I honestly didn't even know where to begin in interpreting this dream so I found an article on The Huff Post and a dream expert was talking about rats in dreams and to find a dead rat, it can mean that a relationship is over.

Interestingly, I have been having a frustrating week in regards to a relationship that has never really gotten off the ground (after almost 4 years!) It has never lead to anything serious and has never been erm...consumated, much to my chagrin. If it's not meant to be then that's fine but this guy just pops in and out of my life and he does not want a committed relationship, he does not want an intimate
encounter and he doesn't want to be friends either and it's been very confusing for me.

I've gotten to the point now where I think he's either screwing with me or else he's scared or just not interested enough - his behaviour is all over the map and I'm usually good at sussing this stuff out - but then why keep in touch for years?

In any case, since it's what's been bugging me all week and I tried to make it clear to him that I am done with all of it, I initially thought that the dream of the dead rat meant it was over. But upon reflection it turns out that the rat wasn't actually dead.

So I have no clue if these things are connected, but I don't like most of the dream interps for rats since they are so negative and I love rats. But I also find the dream very odd, even by my standards. Things happened in order, for one thing, and I recall colour which I usually do not. And then just the symbolism of drinking a dead/alive rat..... Weird, no?

Any other thoughts about this would be helpful. I am determined not to get sucked back in to this ridiculous and pointless cycle with this guy, but does this mean it's not actually over perhaps? The fact that it's Mercury Rx when all this went down is making me wonder. Plus in our charts we have quite a bit of karma.

Thanks in advance. If no one responds, I understand - it's a seriously weird dream.

I did not know that a dead rat is associated with the end of a relationship. Thank you for your information!
I like your connections already.

Please read it as an another opinion:
Generally coffee in a dream can be seen as a wish for change and energy and can also refer to sociable contacts. Rats in a dream can be associated with cleverness, deviousness and they are untrustworthy. Whereas a dead rat can be associated with the message: You win over your enemies.
This dream indiciates a change(=coffee) from dead to alive (=turn of the rat) through the victory(=dead rat) of cleverness(=alive rat).

Gemini,

Thanks for your take on it. Having the coffee reference helps a lot. Not so sure about enemies though. I'm not sure I have any although if I do they are secretive ones. I didn't get a bad feeling about the rat although the coffee didn't taste right so maybe that is the 'negative' thing I should be focused on perhaps?

I can see the difficulty. I guess you will find the better clarification with your own deffinitions.

What is your personal definition of a coffee in real life? Does it really bring the energy or not? What color had the coffee? Does the color black really stand for your emotions or is it the way you drink your coffee that you like? <--- The same the other way round with white. White is associated with new beginning,.....

What is your personal thoughts that you have with a rat? I only know that she is social and intelligent. What color did she have? As she looked to you -Did you feel good?
I saw in your dream a constant change of the rat. From dead to alive. From wet to dry......

You can answer those questions and I will try to find a more individual answer.
