I'm not connecting with any of the interpretations I'm finding on Google..lately I've had a lot of dreams involving animals. This happens to me from time to time; I'll have dreams several nights in a row that are all about animals.

The dream I had three nights ago had me driving in a truck and I was blacking out/losing control of the truck while driving onto a curved ramp into a parking garage. When I got into the garage I saw a group of animals and suddenly I was sitting in the middle of them.

To my left were several parrots..mostly white ones, a few were green. They looked more like cockatoos..and they were pretty big. To my right were three grey cats with white markings and bright yellow eyes. The cats all looked identical to each other, in my mind I was told they were triplets. They were protecting a baby owl, it was also grey.

In my mind I was also told that there were three dogs that were supposed to be in the group but they had wandered off to explore. Also, I was made aware of the fact that all these animals had been abandoned by someone and left in the parking garage.

I was really sad for them and wanted to care for them all. But the only one I actually interacted with was the baby owl. It seemed lonely or sick and I was petting his little head.

The next night I dreamt that I was with my mom and my two cats (that now are cared for by my ex boyfriend) were there and I was so happy to see them..I was petting them. This makes sense to me because I do really miss them. I was talking to my mom and we were getting in an argument about her following me and not leaving me be when I was upset. It was night time and we were standing in a lawn and off in the distance behind my mom I saw a skunk run past us.

So...any thoughts on what any of these animals might mean? I'm especially interested in why my first dream involved groups of three animals (the parrots, the cats, the dogs) and why the one lone owl is the only one I actually touched.

Hello frankie

Interesting dream. I'll be back with some thoughts tomorrow.

Getting caught up in the details can sometimes be counterproductive. Let us first handle some of the basics and find a theme that feels right, then we can look into more details if necessary, or if you just want to.

There are certainly specific attributes associated with particular animals, but animals in general often represent aspects of self or energies at work within self or in one's life. The three triplicate animals (dog, cat, parrot) are all pets, perhaps generally representing close/familiar aspects or energies concerning love, acceptance, care, and/or nurturing. As the dream clearly points out, the issue for you here is that "these animals had been abandoned".

The number three is obviously emphasized (three each of three animals), generally suggesting the beginning of a transformative or developmental process. There are many other things three can represent, such as mother-father-child (which could be at work here), completion, time, or whatever else you might associate with three, so it may be worth looking into further. It may also be helpful, or at least interesting, to explore the number nine (3x3).

As a bird that can see in the dark, an owl can represent a messenger from the unconscious, intuition, wisdom. Petting this baby owl suggests nurturing (petting) a new or developing (baby) wisdom/intuition/insight (owl).

So, this dream suggests that you feel as if you are "losing control" of some area of your life and need to "exit"/park/stop. Driving a truck could indicate your job or some other "work". The conflict could have its roots in a process of development/transformation wherein "abandoned" aspects of self concerning love/acceptance have re-activated as a new/developing intuition/wisdom/knowledge is being nurtured. Perhaps some inner work you are doing is attempting to heal past wounds, and not without some difficulty.

Does this make sense whatsoever? If so, we can pursue smaller details. If not, then we'll try again.

The second dream may be related to the first. Do you feel kind of like you have "abandoned" your cats? As in the first dream, it is suggested that an "abandoned" love/acceptance aspect of self (cats) needs to be nurtured (petting). Because a skunk is black and white, it can represent instinctual energies within the unconscious (black) that are becoming conscious (white). Or maybe something just stinks. Night can have the same meaning … emerging unconscious material. All of this has to do with something you want to be free from, unrestricted (outside/argue about mom following)).

What is bothering you?

Do these dreams have something to do with the relationship with your parents?

The first dream could indicate issues with your father, and the second, your mother … but I could be wrong about that.

Thoughts?

Ra, thank you for your interpretation!

I think you're on to something. I am in a situation now where I feel out of control and that I am putting aside some of my essential goals and personality traits in order to compromise in a relationship.

I also do see a pattern with the number 3. I was born at 3:33 am and I see those repeating numbers on the clock ALL THE TIME. I have started reading up on "angel numbers" and I think what I have read really applies.

Wanna know something really strange about that dream? The truck I was driving in the dream was a little black Ford ranger...the same truck my dad drives. I thought it was weird that I was driving his truck but didn't think much of it.

Well, only a few HOURS after I had that dream..my boyfriend's truck was repossessed and we had to quickly buy another one. We ended up buying a little black Ford ranger. So weird!
