I just had a really long, intense and detailed dream and I am curious what could be the message behind it, because wow!
So, it begins with me walking through this field filled with beautiful flowers and trees and bushes, just wandering. And I find this ramshackle house, overgrown with plants, and inside a 6-8 years old boy. He is very scared, because there is a spaceship/spacestation outside the planet and soon they will start bombing the place to get him out of hiding. And I wanted to help him, didn't ask why are people trying to hurt him or who is he, I just picked him up and ran.
And I want to point out, the world around me was just so beautiful, even while running I thought "wow the colors are so vivid!"
After a long while, I had to stop because we reached the edge of a chasm and also the scenery before me was breathtaking. I realized this is not just a chasm, it's a crater left by atomic bombs. And there were cities down there, built by what was left of society. I told the child we are safe now and can find a place to live.
So we climbed down to the ground, where we were greeted by farmers. They invited us into their houses, and while exploring the place I found a window where I could see the ocean. But it was so surreal, because there were huge waterfalls! I was amazed, it looked so wonderful, though I knew this was the result of bombings that completely changed the shape of Earth.
Anyways, we moved into a bigger settlement and at some point I changed character. I was a man, around 30. I wanted to keep the child safe, but the woman leading the settlement didn't trust me. She found out I am not using my real name, but my mother's surname and that I used to be a soldier. I didn't want to leave, but knew that I had to. There was another woman with me, not a romantic partner, but still very close who helped me take care of the boy. For some reason she was kinda ****** at me. Another woman helped with our escape, we stole a very sci-fi looking car and drove away. When had to cross a junkjard, and land flooded by water, and when we were at a safe distance I left the car. I wanted to check on the boy, but he was nowhere to be found. I only had this tiny, human shaped toy with me. It was like as if he never existed and I was very sad.Two things came to my mind after I woke up. One, that I am in a fantasy roleplay group and there I have a character who adopted a very special boy (he is a mage). The dream-child reminded me of him. The other thing is that just the day before I was talking with a friend about how a couple years eariler I though I'd be a mother at this age, but right now, I couldn't and wouldn't want to take care of a baby. Please read it as an opinion:
The appearance of the boy can have a connection to your current opinion about children. According to your dream a life with or without children is colorful and full of emotions.

Whoops sorry for not replying, I didn't get any notifications about this topic for some reason.  It's true there have been some big changes happening in my life, a breakup, I moved to a new place and about to change my job.
But, when I was 6-8... hmmm... apart from my parents marriage turning bad and their divorce, nothing big happened. IP: Logged |

Divorce qualifies as a fundamental change, no doubt. Not sure if that plays a part in the dream, but it could.While much of the setting, scenery, and imagery, including the boy, may have roots in the role-play activities, I think these things hook into something about yourself. It could be suggested that your life situation is presently pretty good (walking through beautiful field) and you have realized that the beauty of it now is greatly influenced by difficulties in the past (beauty is result of bombings that changed the shape of the Earth). For you, life continues quite beautifully because of, or in spite of, some devastating , sudden change in your past (cities in crater left by atomic bombs). The little boy could represent a developing masculine aspect of self, an aspect that was abandoned, forgotten, and has been unattended (ramshackle house/overgrown) since you were 6-8 years old. The dream could be suggesting that it is time to rescue and nurture this undeveloped aspect, or perhaps this process has already begun, due to, and/or resulting in a new awareness (spaceship/vivid colors). I think changing into a 30 year old man has something to do with the growth and incorporation of this developing masculine aspect. Does this make any sense to you? Are you undergoing this sort of change, with some kind of new awareness?
