I had a dream recently I want to share and maybe interpret. First you should know that I don't always experience dreams in a "narrative" format, a lot of times it seems like I'm downloading all the information at once so sometimes the "story" comes out jumbled. Fortunately, this one is pretty short. This dream seems to take place in a medieval European fantasy setting. There was a mage who was renowned in the magickal world for his knowledge and power. He had an illegitimate daughter with another "pureblood" witch, but abandoned her to live with a woman who wasn't a pureblood (I don't recall if she was a witch or not). He had a son with her. One day their home was destroyed in a fire (likely arson) and the father gave his life to protect his son. The son grew up and began preaching Christianity. But the mage's illegitimate daughter tries to follow him and hunt him down because he considers him responsible for her father leaving her and his eventual death. Even though she is a pureblood and a better witch she is frustrated that her half-brother has "turned his back" on his father by using his life to preach a religion that destroys witches. The strange thing was, it was revealed to me very strongly that the daughter's name was Hecla. I don't remember names often so this is unique. I looked up "Hecla" and I found this: "Hekla is one of Iceland's most active volcanoes; over 20 eruptions have occurred in and around the volcano since 874. During the Middle Ages, Europeans called the volcano the 'Gateway to Hell'. ... There is still a legend that witches gather on Hekla for Easter." IP: Logged |

Hello deepseastar It sounds to me like your dreaming mind tapped into the collective unconscious and extracted some bit of lore in order to relay a message or draw a comparison with your inner life. The dream highlights a religious/spiritual/belief conflict within the story line, as well as symbolically through the half-brother and half-sister. These two could represent the two "halves" of self - masculine/feminine - which are related to right/left, outer/inner, traditional/esoteric, and the opposition or confliction between them. Perhaps these elements reflect a similar conflict within yourself. The reference to fire could suggest a process of transformation/change in relation to the conflicting energies at work. There is also the idea of searching. What are you searching for? Other energies of note within the dream are betrayal, sacrifice, resentment, revenge/justice. How do these energies fit into your own story? The setting of the dream and your discovery of the Hekla volcano connection could indicate a past-life influence regarding a current life situation and/or inner conflict. Do you feel pressure building? What do you think about this? Can you make any connections? On a side note ... As you first spelled "Hecla", I see an interesting Lexigram ... HEAL EACH ACHE Maybe there is something to that. IP: Logged |

Thank you for writing, Ra. I am going through a period of change in my life but I do not feel a lot of internal conflict. On the other hand, I do tend to suppress my anger and I notice a lot of it building up. IP: Logged |

For what it's worth, I've had an interest in ancient Norse society and religion for a while. IP: Logged |

I had another dream featuring volcanoes. I was a student at some kind of college or scientific institute - cold, white walls, bright fluorescent lights - but the experiments they ran didn't seem like "normal" experiments - they made "sense," but they probably can't be translated into "earthly" terms. Suddenly everyone is gone and the entire building is sinking into lava from the volcano it was built on. I spend the rest of the dream trying to find my way out of the sinking building, but the whole thing is like a maze. The dream ends there. IP: Logged |

Please read it as an opinion: A volcano is association with the outbreak of unconscious or suppressed material and leads to the question: What do I have to clarify ? Edit: IP: Logged |
