I had a very vivid dream for the first time in my life about my ex. We had a 12 year long relationship that got over quite a while ago. He is with someone else now. In the dream he kissed me for the first time with a little hesitation with the fear of how would I respond. It really felt Iike a first kiss, I opened my eyes with a pain in my heart as I felt all the feelings and pain resurfacing.

My question is - Why did I see this dream when I never saw it in all these years, it was really painful??

Sometimes a dream can help on a conscious dissolution of whatever doesn’t serves the dreamer any more.

Perhaps you are now in a place where these painful feelings can be productively exposed so that longstanding, unfinished emotional business can begin to be finished.

thank you for the wonderful explanations. i just hope that is the case. i am all open to heal the scars and move on in life but so intense dream shook me up for a while. i hope it's all cleansing time because i am betrayed in a very painful manner and have no desire of reconcilation or re-igniting those feelings. ty for taking the time to analyse my dream. sorry for the late reply though. you guys rock ...
