I was nowhere to be seen in the dream. I was seeing it unfold like you would see a movie scene. Objective, distant and at times I felt like I was intruding on something I shouldn't see.

It was a room. A ruined, torn down, broken filthy room. Its walls and floor were so black with filth that they were almost impossible to tell from each other. The walls were cracked and full of holes. There was almost little to no light around.

In the middle of the dirty room. There was a a man. A filthy barefoot man. Holed, torn rags were barely hanging off his dirty body. His hair was long, falling down his shoulders in a tangled greasy mess. The hair covered all of his face and I couldn't see his eyes.

Beneath his bare feet, there were crushed pomegranate grains, a lot of them. ( I never dreamt of them before).

The man was standing still, head down. Right at the other end of the room, there was a dog.

The dog was looking right back at the man. His fur coat was white as snow.Between his jaws, blood-like substance was dripping down his neck and running down his fur, matting it with red.

In his eyes, there was pity and sorrow as he looked at the man. The dog, stayed where he was and said to the man :

"Barefoot fool,
Filthy fool,
Look at you now
Naked and nothing.."

And then I woke up. I was so startled by what I saw. I looked at my phone and it was 4.30 a.m. I couldn't go back to sleep after that.

The dream was so unlike any other I ever had and the images are stuck with me, even right now.It was so weird and disconnecting. It was like was seeing a memory or a dream of someone else. It didn't feel like my own and it shook me.

Later in the day, I found out by someone in the family that my grandfather did not die naturally like everyone else says. He committed suicide.

I don't why but I felt like the dream was connected to my grandfather, even though I didn't know the truth of his death at that time. I never knew the man, he died at 24, so he was young and my mother was a only one-month old, so she never knew her father either.

I could certainly be wrong, but I don’t think this is about your grandfather. The dream definitely has a disconnected or otherworldly feeling about it, and that may be why you make that association, but there are several reasons why I think this is all about you.

Watching this dream unfold from a detached, third-person perspective is an indicator that you should view the characters and actions as aspects of yourself, and pay attention to them.

A talking animal, especially one which seems wise, is an archetype for Self. This white dog represents the spiritual side of self. His message likely pertains to something deeply psychological, containing some bit of information or insight you are not going to get from the outside world, but only from within.

I think the filthy man is an aspect of yourself, perhaps your shadow. But before we go any further, we should clarify some things. First, are you male or female? I may have asked you this before, and I apologize for not remembering. I am thinking you are a guy, but I’m not sure.

To better understand what you are trying to tell yourself, it would help to first discover what “pomegranate” means in the dream, because it certainly means something! I suspect the blood-like substance on the dog is pomegranate as well, and maybe that will help us figure it out.

Pomegranates have a particular meaning in Christian symbology, and another in Judaism. Are you particularly Christian or Jewish? It can also symbolize fertility, procreation, sexual energy, love, or blood and sacrifice. Interestingly, the pomegranate was sacred to the Greek goddess of grain, Demeter, who could make people sleep and dream, and is associated with the symbolism of Self.

Since the substance on the dog is “blood-like”, is that a clue that the pomegranate has something to do with sacrifice? I’m not sure. Do you have any feelings about it? If you could guess, what do you think “pomegranate” has to do with?

I find this dream fascinating, and look forward to figuring out it’s meaning.

Hi Ra... nm meant 'never mind'.
I was in an incredibly frustrated state these past days.
I had done hours of research and consideration about his (or her) dream, and as usual, had poured my soul energies into it. {'Assumed' that people didn't like what I said.} A very #HumanMirage *Heart*

I'll quickly add another dimension to what you said about it being 'other worldly'. With the name SilverFeather, it opened the door for me to look into other symbolic meanings.

Immediately, I thought of Jackals (evilDogs). Betrayals, selfishness, deceit (by possible friend-associations). That this was a warning to quietly question motives and the agendas of those he is in business with or friendships with.

Another consideration was Ancestor Communication. Some people have mediumistic gifts. People/family who have crossed can try to influence our lives, our decisions. Sometimes (in the spirit realms) we have to say STOP. This is MY life. I appreciate your input, AND, I'm going to learn not to make the same mistakes.

I pointed out how the grandfather had killed himself, and left behind (abandoned) a one-month old infant (the mother) doing so.

Sometimes when there has been unprocessed trauma (like a death of important family member, especially a suicide) there's something hypnotic about it (perhaps for some people).

If SilverFeather is that same age, then, is he being influenced by that death (Anubis, Ma'at, balancing soul with a Feather) NOW?

We have a choice of processing, AND then, to do BETTER than those in our DNA. OUR Life. OUR choices.

There's some kind of trauma there.... ?

Pomegranates also have to do with that Demeter myth.. yes. I associated it more to the Ceres (same, different civilization) and Persephone myth. Persephone was sooo tied to her Mom's Helicopter type parenting, that (in the mythology) it attracted Pluto/Hades to come along and abduct her into Hel realms. She lived (some say) the sexual fantasy of being with a partner and AWAY (independent) from the mother.
.. In the mean time, Ceres (mom) was soooo distraught that everything pertaining to the earth (finances, food, labor-employment) ceased. The grief was so strong it stopped Earth from prospering.
.. A 'deal' was made that Proserpina/Persephone could get away from Hel realm Hades, ...... BUT!! she had eaten some pomegranate seeds. By eating Hel's food, she was bound to it. {{Like having an unexpected pregnancy-- and going through the processing... An unguarded moment's pleasure can CHANGE your life forever-- and you have to deal with it. Duties and responsibilities.}}... Had to go back for months of a year. (Hence, the seasons of winter, spring, summer, fall.) Some months above, others spent below. {{Custody issues; losses, compromises, needing to Consider the Third (the child) before your selves.}}

Persephone had to learn to rebel against her relative's wish in order to have the relationship she craved or desired.

Ra... I didn't know about Demeter and dreams! That's cool. (You know I like delineating the asteroids... this fits something for me! thanks.)

Anubis (head like a dog, underworld, was also the ultimate Dream God of the Egyptians.) 'Knowledge of death, soul journeying, Change'

{Robert Moss, Dreaming the Soul Back Home} http://dreamingthesoul.com/

The other connection I had made was to Fear and the Brainwashing going on in films and media, and Finances.
www.linkedin.com/pulse/economics-fear-beware-jackal-you-kazi-najib-ashraf

Will be interesting to see how SF uses the information provided, applied to the dream...

Bottom line here for me... It's a warning dream. Could be saying to 'consider' unintended consequences (for behaviors ill-considered--- like what was involved with his Grandfather; learn from some of his mistakes, not do as he did--- including the abandoning of his child, and the effects that had on the Mother here, which impacted SF)...

I think Ra raised excellent points concerning the representations in the dream, and Mirage also shared a wealth of information.
It seems to me, SilverFeather, that the dream is about yourself, like Ra said, yet is tied to your grandfather's suicide by way of synchronicity (you had a very powerful, unique dream, and the day after you learn such an important fact, thus a connection is being made. And to my opinion it is not necessarily important, in synchronization, which incident preceeded which). So the aspect of yourself, the shadow, as Ra put it, could connect to the image of your grandfather taking his own life, thus losing everything he had. I think Mirage was right and this is a warning dream. I have a guess, by which you are being warned not to waste your life. Do you or did you ever entertain a fear to remain destroyed in a way, without anything left? The pomegranates could be the life force being wasted. Perhaps this dream speaks of a deeply-seated fear within you, a fear which your grandfather's deed and therefore fate symbolize to you.

Thank you, Ra, mirage and Ayelet for the great insightful replies. I truly appreciate your thoughts.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention my gender in the earlier post. Actually, I am a young adult female (23) and that's among the many reasons why I felt startled and disconnected with the dream.

I know that relating the man in the dream to my grandfather was just logical sequencing. My mind was, in a sense, trying to connect the image with a story because the dream made no sense or whatsoever to my conscious/waking self.

It's incredibly rare for me to have dreams like this. Dreams that feel more like visions, like messages, highly symbolic and cryptic. Most of what I dream of is a reflection of my own current psychological states or deep-seated emotional issues. They are usually dreams I can easily decode.

This dream, along with another one I had when I was about 16 or 17 stuck with me the most.

The other dream was just as weird and as startling. I was younger at that time and I can still clearly recall everything I saw in it and that alone is a mystery because I tend to forget dreams quite easily.

The dream was seen from a first point of view. I was in a room. A cold, dark, stone room ( very similar to underground cells.)

Water was slowly slipping into the room. It brushed against my bare feet as it continued to rise further. I stared at it for a while, seeming fascinated with it for some reason.

My feet were dirty and I seemed to be naked or in a torn short robe.

There was no windows or doors. No source of visible light. Rusty chains, several of them were dangling from the ceiling.

At the middle of the room there was a huge, black, rusty cage.

Inside the cage, there was a dark grey wolf. Its eyes were so silver that they glowed in the dark, just like orbs of moonlight. They were staring right at me. It looked at me as if knew me.

Above the cage, there was a lone pure white dove.It was perched there, still and silent. It didn't look at me or at the wolf, it seemed to be entirely oblivious to everything else going on around it.

Water continued to slip into the cage and the wolf kept staring at me, strangely unalarmed by the rising water. Then, I woke up.

The first dream was impossible to forget. I would keep remembering it every now and then and I would always wonder : 'What was that ?'

Both dreams take place in rooms. cold, dark, closed rooms. Both have animals in them. The white dog, the grey wolf and the dove.

In the first dream, I am there and I seem to the one whose feet are dirty and whose clothes are torn. In the recent one, it was the man that I thought to be my grandfather.

However, in the first dream, there was water and in the second, pomegranate seeds. The wolf didn't talk, it just started. It looked at me with knowledge in its eyes. It was like it was saying to me : ' I know you. I know what you are all about.' and it made me uncomfortable.

The dog, however, talked and it was pitying the man and there was reproach in its tone. It seemed to be disappointed in the man, more like :' Look at you now, this is what you've done to yourself.'

There is an interval of 6 to 7 years between both dreams.

After re-reading everything you wrote guys and after thinking about it for a while. I'm starting to believe that the man in my recent dream is no one else but myself. He is my own representation, in a masculine form.

About pomegranates. After checking the net and some mythology articles. It seems they are supposed to symbolize the zest of life : lust, health, joy, satisfaction...and so on. If broken or crushed, it means disappointment in life, disillusion with your own fate and your own self.It also seems to mean leaving things unfinished or not following through with something till the end.
In some other websites, I found it to mean sin and temptation.Crushing or not eating it means deserting earthy pleasures and shedding materialistic or hedonistic tendencies. It seems to mean many different things at once.

The dog ate it it seems, since its juices are all over his jaw and neck. The man crushed it under his feet. Could it mean a gift or an offering that has been rejected or denied ? Is that what the dog is blaming the man for ? Not appreciating what is given, wasting what's offered, refusing life or possible happiness, perhaps ?

To answer your question Ra. No I'm not Christian or Jewish. I'm what you would call an agnostic. I tend to steer away from organized faiths/religions but I do believe in spirituality.

To Ayelet, no I never had suicidal thoughts. I find suicide to be the result a moment of crippling vulnerability that costs you everything. I believe life is too precious to just abandon. But that's my own opinion and I don't mean to judge.

One of my fears is not living enough, not knowing enough, not loving enough. I fear wasting away my life in meaninglessness. I want to enjoy all that there is to life. What I'm terrified of the most though is losing my mother but that's another thing.

I actually didn't mean to imply you fear of commiting suicide, but of wasting your life.

That other dream you mention here seems to be very connected to the first tou brought up, in both you personify the same person/aspect.

The man in the dream seems to me as one who isolated himself from life and society, and is therefore closer to the animal realm.

Have you ever considered having a past life regression, by the way? I have a feeling it may help you solve the dreams even more.

Yes, I'm afraid of wasting away my life. It's a fear I have always carried within me, even as a pre-teen. I never understood it. I always feel this urge to be everywhere and all over, like I'm ought to wander and never sit still. I tend to connect that to natal Uranus in 4th house, Squaring natal Moon. I feel like I'm always looking for something out of my reach.

I'm sorry I misunderstood you but I'm glad I got to clarify my own views on the issue of suicide anyways.

A past life regression ? No, I've never tried or thought about that to be honest but it's an interesting thought. Is it some sort of self-hypnosis ?

Past life regression is regularly an hypnotic session guided by a professional hypnotherapist who is specialized in such matters. I guess one can also achieve results using self-hypnosis, but I can imagine that process will be more difficult and take longer, if you are not familiar with the field and very skilled with meditation.

I thought you may consider such a session, because it seems to me the origin of these two dreams stems from a very deep place beyond this life, maybe from the same place where your certain fear comes from.

As you are female, the man in the most current dream would be considered your animus, and not your shadow, although there are similarities in the two. Your shadow would appear as a same-sex figure, whereas the animus appears as a man, often with shadow-like qualities, and only in a woman’s dream. He represents your masculine aspects, and in this case indicates masculine aspects that have been ignored, undeveloped, or otherwise unrecognized/immobilized and closed off. It is this part of yourself, the masculine aspect, which energizes and drives to action that which is inside of self ... your ideas, creativity, dreams, desires.

Interestingly, a wolf can also symbolize the animus, so I believe the dream from your youth is certainly related to the current dream. As you have noted, there are so many similarities as to preclude any coincidence.

In the earlier dream there is rising disillusionment in your world (rising water). You are bound/restricted (cell/chains) in a world where you see no hope (no source of visible light) or opportunity (no doors or windows). You are being neglected, by yourself and/or others (your condition is poor). You feel powerless (wolf in cage). This dream is telling your teenaged self that your animus is bound, and this is the key to more fully connecting to your higher or spiritual self (white dove) from which you feel disconnected (dove is oblivious). Disillusionment and chaos threaten to drown your motivation (water rising/wolf in cage) , so you must free it. You must free the animus. Perhaps that is what the rusty chains are for, to lift the rusty cage.

The recent dream seems to be saying much the same. It seems to be an expression of disappointment with self. It could be suggested that, while some portion of the animus may have been “tamed”/utilized (dog instead of wolf) and acknowledged (white), allowing for a better connection with higher energies (engaged white dog instead of oblivious white dove), there is still a significant portion of your masculine self/energies that needs a great deal of attention (unkempt man/animus). It is still the bondage of this portion of self that keeps you from realizing the full “zest of life” (crushed pomegranate seeds).
