I have a couple of ideas.

* Snakes are a creative feminine symbol--
The Life-force needs compensation.
masculine feminine energies are not in balance

The snake biting you is trying to make you aware that something you think you are handling is trying to wake you that it is not effective.

There's something you are not acting upon that needs your direct attention. The bite is trying to tell you that you need to react, and you're taking too "long" to do it. (snake body) (right hand = action, authority)

* Snakes can mean lies and deceptions
There's some kind of lie going on that your conscious mind hasn't had a grasp on realizing yet. Some kind of tale (tail growing longer as time goes by).

Someone speaking lies and accusations that you aren't aware of.

When the lie becomes revealed, be cautious of revenge ...

Take care that you don't participate in gossip -- it can turn around and come back to bite you.

* Snake as animal symbols
Masculine energy and a hunger for rules
Fear of being victimized
Using rules and logic to feel 'safe'
and feel secure and grounded.

Snakes don't 'see' or hear well... but they use the more-intuitive faculties in the world.

~ Perhaps there are hunches you are getting that you have been disregarding for too long.

~ There are changes going on inside you that you haven't realized yet. Try to become conscious of that before it becomes more urgent (911).

So ... in sum
- Perhaps there's something that needs attention and you're not reacting. Being too passive about, in a way? Need to give it more energy and not walk away from it.
Or! that you're choosing to let it go and not react?
