Maybe you feel like you want to protect his wife. As if you were reliving the connection with him, and she represented an aspect of yourself. You "being" with him up until now, in your thoughts, in your imaginings, does not correspond with your "age" - you're too mature already for what took place between you and your ex-husband in the past.
