THE WEEKLY TIRADE By Scotty Kowall Every Monday In Comedyzine The difference between Democrats and Republicans became apparent last week when Republicans ousted Trent Lott as their Senate majority leader. It showed that Republicans are more concerned with public opinion and winning elections than standing by one of their own in a moral lapse of judgment. The Republicans who have the same core beliefs as Trent Lott were fast to cut his lifeline even though many Republican senators like Orrin Hatch have the same voting record as good old boy Trent. The Mississippi senator made a remark that cost him his job and became the whipping boy of the Republican Party. Not because of Tent Lott's ideology but because of the perception the public would have regarding the Republican Party and its Senate majority leader. They removed Trent Lott for fear it would hurt both the president and all Republican candidates in the 2004 election and for that reason and that reason only Trent Lott was removed as Republican Senate majority leader. The secret Dixiecrat wing of the Republican Party has been outed and the sooner Lott was gone the sooner the Republicans could try and move the media on from a very embarrassing faction within its party... That is the big difference between Republicans and Democrats. The Republicans are fast to let one of their own sink. Friendship is fleeting among Republicans; they are more concerned with their own political life than saving a friend from a moral mistake. Before they offer a helping hand they check the polls to see if it would be politically wise and then let their good old friend sink in a political sea of sharks. That is what they did to Trent Lott... Democrats on the other hand value one of their own and fight for him regardless of the media mayhem. All you have to do is look at how the Democrats handled former President Bill Clinton's moral lapse of judgment. Did they run away like the Republicans did from Trent Lott? No, they stood and supported the man, while criticizing his indiscretion. Vice President Al Gore praised President Clinton, had he and other Democrats castigated him instead and agreed with convicting him in the Senate impeachment trial, Al Gore would now be president and the Congress might be dominated by Democrats. That is the difference between Republicans and Democrats; Democrats won't abandon their long time friend even if it means losing elections. Republicans consider their friendship expendable. With friends like Trent Lott has in the Republican Party, he doesn't need enemies... http://www.comedyzine.com/ ------------------ Its easy to get a reputation for wisdom. Beam me up Scotty. Scotty Kowall is truly one of America's finest brainwashed. That article is so lop-sided it could not stand up against the barest mininum of logic or thought, barely even warranting comment, except for the fact that people actually believe it. It is almost unbelievable to me that anyone would take that seriously. Sad is what it is. The Democratic party is no different. One is just as corrupt as the other, and both are controlled by the same forces. Their agenda is the same, ultimately. Power and control. I mean not to offend anyone, I just cannot understand how Americans have become so gullible and non-thinking. IP: Logged |

Ra - I agree that many Americans become blinded by political parties. I choose to vote for a candidate as opposed to a party. Sadly, the last couple of times I seem to have voted "against" a candidate rather than "for" one. Anyone - any thoughts as to whether the new heightened spiritual awareness that is occuring will impact the political process?? ~Hopeful IP: Logged |

I thought it was hilarious, too. I haven't been to the onion in a while. I'll have to go back there. You only think he's brainwashed because he speaks a point of view that you might not agree with. Does that mean everyone who has differing opinions is brainwashed? I thought it was just that, a difference of opinions. Besides I don't think anyone was calling into question which had the right to take the moral highground. besides, if you read into some of his other topics, he quite frequently questions the Democrats, too. Anyway, he has a point. With the exception of a few Dems, not to many WERE calling for his removal. The Dems would have still retained the House with Gore, so it wasn't really a matter of image, now was it?------------------ Its easy to get a reputation for wisdom. That companies avoid paying $70 billion in U.S. taxes a year, simply by opening a PO Box in Bermuda. HORRIBLY UNCONSCIONABLE CORPORATE POLICY
Ohhhh - I wish I could find some more violent smilies.

That the two-faced princes of Saudi Arabia, a country that has been holding telethons for suicide bombers, are treated as honored guests at the president's Crawford ranch.Yeah, okay. Why is it that its okay to overlook the Saudi's links to terrorists groups (could it be a little thing called OIL) but Bush is all about shoving a nuke up Saddam's you-know-what? ------------------ Its easy to get a reputation for wisdom.
