hi everyone,

for a global unity forum, i'd like to share with you landmark education. i don't know if anyone has ever heard of it, but it is basically a methodology that transforms the perspective into limitless possibilities and the grace to accept things for what they are. quite amazing stuff. i took the landmark forum this past february, and am enrolled in the advanced course starting this may.

just to share my experiences, after i finished the landmark forum, i was able to connect again with family members that i had been bitter towards. i made the possibility of speaking to my dad again, after 15 years of silence, into reality. my mom and i get along a lot better now and we have direct open communication.

i learned things about myself that i didn't know, that "i didn't know."

one break-through i had was about the living situation i was in. i live in a victorian flat with 4 flatmates. at the time, i was stressed out about whether or not the landlord was going to give into my request to reduce the rent because the rental market is deflating and vacancies are on the rise.

i lost my peace of mind, and was also weary about how to behave around my landlord because he wasn't getting back to me quickly and avoided the topic whenever we met.

i was asked at the forum why i didn't leave to in order to get my peace of mind. i said that i really liked my roommates and didn't want to move out and search for a whole new household.

the truth was so deep that i didn't even realize how nasty it was. the break-through i realized was that i purposely picked out my flatmates because they behaved in a way that would allow me to become isolated and anti-social. i really did not want to interact much with flatmates and purposely did not want to live with people who would have a problem with it.

anyway, upon realization what a sick and manipulative thing i did, i made a conscious choice to have more interactions with them and develop intimate relationships.

it's going well, i am happy to report my landlord and i are great friends now. and he did reduce my rent

i also found the courage to authentically admit, that all i wanted to do was to love people as who they are without changing them.

here is the link for you to browse through. if you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.

someone once said to me that if everybody just did the landmark forum, there would be no war.

hi carlo, aka sugarlips. you rock too. thanks for taking the time to check it out.

hi n_wevil, retro doesn't mean you go backwards! the planet just moves slower and looks like it's going backwards when everything else is moving right along. make sense? i got a few retrograde planets myself.

Be careful with this one - do some research on landmark education before you go to the introduction

I went to a Landmark introductory session once, and just want to mention that they are an offshoot of the est movement.

Some people have a problem with that.

Also, although it was totally obvious they help people make amazing breakthroughs, it's interesting how much money they charge, and how rich the Landmark folk at the top of the organization are. Just do the math for yourself.

I only mention this because while they get great results, I have found Landmark facilitators a little too vague and gung-ho about the organization, when they don't know the financial facts themselves. Just so nobody here embraces them as gurus! Great methods, but not lily-pure motives...

(Show me the money...)

cheers,
Lunargirl

This is my opinion:

The most basic and probably the most important thing a person can take away after participating in Landmark, is knowing how to discern one's blind spots and using this insight to create a new situation we want to be in. Having this tool allows us to confront any situation with peace and a way of thinking that remains flexible enough to where one does not remain "stuck" if one applies themsELF. One learns how to get "unstuck" so to speak, and move on with life. And one can live, be and co-habit with anybody with peace of mind.

Of course, we all have breakdowns. It's a part of life and it's how we deal with them that counts. Through Landmark, one learns how, as an individual, or community to work through those breakdowns and live the life that we do have in reality. We learn about filters, stigmas, stereotypes, and unconscious stories we create that hold us back from what we want.

As for the money part, the truth is---Landmark's net profit is 1% of gross revenues. Most of the operations are run by volunteers. The instructors are paid a low salary and are required to be shareholders of the enterprise. Shareholders are not allowed to own more than 5%. The 99% of revenues goes to paying expenses---such as building facilities, phones, electricity, supplies, etc. Another major part of the revenues, derived from the fees participants pay---goes to subsidizing, or at not cost---Landmark Education in communities that cannot afford the cost, such as Jamaica, inner city gangs in Los Angeles, countries in Africa and South America, etc. Landmark does not openly go around telling people this information because this is not what they want to be known for. They want to be known for their education, not philanthropy.

The last subject I am going to mention is that right now, they are trying out a money-back system in several cities. If one is not happy with their experience, and did not get anything out of the Forum, that person gets their money back. If I hear of anything more about this, I will be happy to post it here.

Love,

Amy

For me...I can now be present in any conversation I am having. Instead of the old way..listening, but only hearing yak yak yak
I am also able to see just what "my story" is at the time.

As far as how much money they are making...
My Forum Leader made no bones about the cash flow she was making !!!!!!!!
I think the money back system is a great idea. In my group, there were three people that got up and left within the first 3 hours. They had some very heated arguments with the Leader. I have meet several of the Leaders and I have to say the one my group had doesnt hold a candle to them. Maybe she was having a bad weekend
