Fast Arctic Thaw Portends Global Warming Just how much evidence will have to mount before some people admit that global warming is real? quote: Some parts of Alaska have heated up 10 times more than the global average, said Corell, a senior fellow at the American Meteorological Society
This is no exaggeration. My parents talk about it all the time and how weird it is that they never see such cold winters as they did as children. The weather in my home town of Fairbanks, Alaska has been absolutely, freakishly warm the last decade especially. And yet some folks still claim it's all junk science and without a doubt the planet is actually in a cooling cycle? What will it take to convince some people that our rampant pollution has severe consequences for this planet?? ------------------ It is an old habit with theologians to beat the living with the bones of the dead. :::Robert G. Maybe this is just another step towards inevitable evolution. The strongest will survive to adapt to the new climate whereas the weakest will die off, thus taking their ineffective genes with them. IP: Logged |

sure pidaua.. you just go ahead and keep rationalizing death and devastation away while most of the already precarious biological diversity of the arctic faces extinction. REal constructive. ------------------ It is an old habit with theologians to beat the living with the bones of the dead. :::Robert G. Ingersoll IP: Logged |

I would also like to encourage people to comb through this site. Especially the article I listed to get a real indepth view on climatic changes over thousands of years. It is important to be knowledgable about these events since we cannot stop them, as natural does play a huge impact in it's own change in climate. To say that people and our government is NOT trying to curb these problems is irresponsible. It will take awhile to implement changes and undo what humans have done over the past few centuries. One cannot think that the early industrial era, with copius amount of harsh coal burning in Europe, Asia and the US did not contribute significantly harm the environment. What we have today is cleaner, but we can do a hell of a lot better without resorting to bicycles, basket weaving and candles. http://www.pewclimate.org/dayaftertomorrow.cfm?source=overture#1 http://www.pewclimate.org/docUploads/NAS%20Abrupt%20Climate%20Change%204%2Dpager%2Epdf IP: Logged |
