Ahriman, eh? I don't really see a strong resemblance ... perhaps a more Mephistopheles type influence if it were to come that far at all, though I doubt it. We'll know when we know.
Though, of course, I believe Hitler was the evil incarnate in question (in the other thread where you asked me this question). I don't think President Bush has the, err, necessary background for that theory to hold. Hitler was an evil monster, an [insert any awful words you can think of here] but he was, nevertheless, a genius both creatively and otherwise. It's a whole different ballgame.
The issue of people who attain power has always been of interest to me, not so much the power itself, but how those people achieved it and what they did with it. Imagine if Hitler had chosen to do good? All we can hope for is that all people who attain power choose to do good. Curiouser and curiouser it gets.
But Pres. Bush? I won't give it a thought unless he makes a mad grab for the Spear of Longinus.

Hope no one minds me responding to Tink in another thread here seeing as how the original was closed off. Just a reply to a like-minded friend, nothing else.

Thank you for replying, Eleanore. I always have a good time talking with you. Careful though, you could be accused of fraternizing with the enemy.

The Ahriman comment was inspired by a physical resemblance more then anything else really. Do you have a picture of Steiner's statue handy? Something about the eyes ...

"Imagine if Hitler had chosen to do good?" Yes, I often do. I sometimes think of that young Adolf standing alone on the cold, rainy streets of Vienna, trying to sell his water-color postcards, poor and lonely and hungry, feeling like the whole world was against him, waiting desperately for admission papers to the Vienna Acadamy of Fine Arts that would never come. Imagine if they had. What a waste. It could almost make you cry.

You took that image out of my mouth, if that makes any sense. *sigh* I wonder why he wasn't admitted (aside from whether or not he had the talent though some of the work I've seen was very good)? Was it supposed to be a hard swim upstream like Lincoln for good and he instead chose the easy way to evil? Hmmm.
I actually did notice the eyes ... but how willing am I to jump on that boat? Not very, hehe. Perhaps it's a matter of perception, though the eyes are the windows to the soul and a resemblance to stone is, in itself, revealing. That statue was quite a visual shock for me. I wonder how he accomplished that sense of knowing with it. I've never seen another statue that looks quite as ... alive as that one, if you know what I mean.
Oh dear, is there an enemy?

Yes, yes I know what you mean. The harsh climb upward seems necessary and yet, presents a great danger too. Lincoln is a lovely example of a soul who has passed that test. An excellent compare and contrast study, isn't it?

Honestly, other than the physical resemblance, I didn't allow my mind to travel any farther down that unpleasant road. Who would want too? (well ...ok ..sometimes I want too). Bush seems to be rather adept at puting the chess pieces in place but I don't think his usefullnes will exceed that. What was it Skull and Bones called him? Temporary?

"oh dear, is there an enemy"
Yup, up until a few weeks ago I would have said the same. But from here on in I vow to tread carefully or not at all. The wolves are always at the door.

Whether or not that Hitler's mishaps have steered him into being what he ended up being(in the end) and that Bush is not intelligent enough to ever becoming the third antichrist, I think that our antichrist is in the form of a group...a group of people that never really reconised so much of the world of hardship!

God called them legion, we call them The PNAC!
