Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics: * 29 have been accused of spousal abuse * 7 have been arrested for fraud * 19 have been accused of writing bad checks * 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses * 3 have done time for assault * 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit * 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges * 8 have been arrested for shoplifting * 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits * 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year Can you guess which organization this is? Give up yet? It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group of idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

Thanks for posting that Solane Star. I knew about the huge scandal of the House Bank..holding bad checks on overdrawn accounts from House members and also that members run up huge tabs in the congressional dining rooms and are not pressed to pay up.Can you please post the source you got this from? I'd like to save it for review when sanctimonious congressional hypocrites gush forth with their own virtue. IP: Logged |

Well, that's very nice of you to say Solane Star. Careful, someone will confiscate your Leo handbook It was an interesting thread you started. Everyone should know who the outright crooks, cheats, abusers and con artists are in Congress. Some would say they all fit into one category or another but I don't believe that's true. How are you getting along with your teenager? IP: Logged |

Those stats aren't surprising! Most people who get to those positions are crooks or become crooks along the way!!!Yeah, jwhop, where do you find your sources?? Do you have an internet library, or a huge list of favourites?? I know you can't depend on google, or can you? IP: Logged |

Well, I don't know if you can depend on Google or not. In any event, Google is not for me. I detest their politics and also the new search criteria they intend to set up..which will place the so called reliable sources at the top of the searched list. Reliable sources like the NY Times of Jason Blair fame, CBS News of the Dan Rather debacle and of course NewsWeek, home of the latest debacle of the left I don't use anything more than the AOL search engine but I also checked MSN and got the same results. This is the way I search and did search in this case. First the subject, Congress. Then the event/bill/timeframe/whatever I'm searching for...29 accused of spousal abuse, 7 arrested for fraud...which comes out looking like this in the search window: Congress, 29 accused of spousal abuse, 7 arrested for fraud That got a lot of hits, as most focused searches will. Still, anyone can find what they want to find if they will refine their search or are prepared to wade through a lot of pages of results. IP: Logged |

Oh that simple, eh? Don't you think you're perspective maybe too onesided or biased if you're only getting sources from AOL and MSN?? IP: Logged |

OH JWHOP, These teens sure do present there fair amount of challenges these days with all the different influences surrounding them. Just working with getting help in many areas to maintain our family unit so that we can all be on the same page. I think alot of families are losing the importance of caring and attention that is so needed now a days. Its alittle to fast paced out there sometimes. I'm talking about family moral ethics, trust, respect, self-esteem and loyalties to ones s-elf and others. My husband and I have only been blessed with this gift of my LEO SUNSHINE, Jordan sense the age of 10 to 15 years of age Aug.5 this year.We have also had him on weekends and summer breaks until, he came to live with us while his grandma was in Spain on holidays and she had a heart attack and pasted while there. Jordan was giving no formal tools to work with as a child, because he never had rules in the house, boundaries, or discipline of any sort. Just a little Leo Cub that was left on his own to roam the farm and had no one to play with his own age. Like a little wild cub thats growing so fast into a full grown Lion that needs lots of nurturing and taming. He is so confused with all that has gone on in his life and we all need some help with this family legacy that I feel has been pasted on from one generation to the next. We are recieving some help with direction and guidance, but I think the hardest part about all this is for the guys to amitt that this has been a problem in there family for along time and that we need outside help. Its the Leo pride thing!!! Well there is so much going on here and I wouldn't want to bore you with all the details, but this is a really a big part of my life right now and family really does mean everything to me in life. I so would love to feel and see Jordans Sunshine. Thanks again jwhop for asking and caring.

This is one political aspect of why I don't and will not use Google."Google workers ponied up over $200,000 to federal candidates in 2004, USA Today reported on Monday, with almost all the cash - 98 percent - going to Democrats." http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2005/2/15/70624.shtml The other aspect of why Google is at the top of my s-list is the development I spoke about earlier. All the far left media in America are losing influence, readers, viewers and advertising dollars based on circulation and Neilson ratings. Most Americans finally get it that they are not to be trusted to either deliver the news...in that they regularly kill stories which cast the left in a very dim light...or, they slant their coverage and attempt to influence elections...as they did in 2000 and 2004. They have become known as a wing of the radical left democrat party and a platform from which they spew their nonsense. So, now Google has decided to make it their business to decide which sources are "reliable" and a search for a story or point of view will find these same unreliable media sources at the top of the search list. Internet readers have all but abandoned the old news sources as their primary source for news but Google plans to cram them down everyone's throat by hiding blogs and online news sources...which a lot of people read...hiding them behind countless pages of traditional media sources and stories. Screw Google. http://www.searchenginelowdown.com/2005/05/google-news-to-favor-corporate-media.html My sources of information are in no way restricted. AOL has no internal proprietary news. There is a news page which includes sections for stories from the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, USA Today and stories, national, international and political from Reuters and Associated Press. The only conservative source listed is the Wall Street Journal....and sometimes, I wonder about them. The reason I don't post stories from the AOL news page is because they have aol in their url...even if it's a NY Times story and last time I checked, if you're not an AOL subscriber, those stories will not open for you. I sure hope people know how to distinguish primary sources from secondary and tertiary ones. I don't think any news source can be classified as a primary source. And for blogs, they can in no way be classified as a source. I can see your perspective. I use Google as well, because I like to see as many perspectives as I can, and I am not limited by siding with one political side over another. I come to my own conclusions. Solane Star, I don't envy you the job of attempting to bring some stability, structure and discipline to a teenager;s life, concepts which has been more or less absent all those years. Generally, it's resented in the present but may be highly appreciated later on.I hope it works out well for you and your family.
