An Odessa woman who has been a foster parent for 84 children will be honored Sept. 13 in Washington as an "Angel in Adoption."
Eva Carrasco has been invited to attend the annual Angels in Adoption Gala at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, where she and other foster parents from around the U.S. will be honored.
"I'm very pleased Eva will be recognized because she is a very deserving woman who has given a great deal of love and compassion to the less fortunate," said Congressman Mike Conaway of Midland, who submitted her name to the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute.
"Because she was a foster child, she knows the adversity and trials these young children go through," Conaway said. "She has a giving heart and it is truly remarkable she has been able to help as many children as she has."
Carrasco and her husband Jesse began serving as foster parents in 1987, when their daughters were 14 and 17 years old, and later adopted their 15-year-old son Angel.
