“and to not using the "N" word”

You make it seem like it’s a difficult task. I have never used that word, nor would I ever.
Yes we are all God’s children, that’s why someone needs to change pictures like this

altho beautiful, to all the colours in the world, angels are not only white…and who knows, Jesus and God probably aren’t either

That word is not in our vocabulary.

I was lucky enough to be raised by a mother who was truely progressive and without a racist bone in her sweet little body.

She truely believes we are all born equal and it is up to us individually to make this world a better place, no matter what race, color or creed you are.

I love being an American

I dont use this word frequently my self,,,

but you certainly have me wanting to start useing it on a regular basis.

ITs exactly this sorta emphasis on "ok kids, lets not be racist or polliticaly incorect now" that is continualy bringing up the issue of a already dead horse in our culture and society.

No wonder America is one of the hot spots in the world for racial tension when the medias, press, and public school curiculums keep making the BIG ISSUE in an atempt to stoping it,, always failing to see that its only rubbing salt in the wounds of all sides, as well as puting the subject of too be or not too be racist on the top of peaples minds ,,when otehr wise thier wouldnt have even been any mind paid to it.

Besides, these are the kinda remarks from white peaple in america that many blacks I know laugh at you for... Much like the all to generic rheteric of "oh, Im not raicst, I have black freinds" if someone pulls out "the race card".

Wow, lotus, way to make white north americans look even stupider. As if us letting our borders be the only ones so freely open to lesscontrolled imigration wasnt bad enough.

No, I dont hear the word honkey thrown at whites much anymore..

Instead its more commonly "cracker", or "hey, what are you lookin at ya white piece of s%*t".

You wherent about to assist hollywood and the media mongers in painting the picture that only white peaple can be racist, where you lotus ?

I have noticed that some African-American people will use that word when in reference to another African-American person. A lot of rap songs have that word in many of the lyrics. Anyhow, I myself don't use that word unless I'm singing along to said lyrics.

Oh I can do that ,

and a whole lota other neat tricks budy.

But I still wish white peaple on this continent would start seeing a bigger picture beyond what their schools and tv's have drawn out for them on such topics.. And stop portraying that all white peaple are complete saps and push overs without nerve to individuals of other races.

For one small example- all the times Ive seen looks of total shock on the faces of gangbangers threatening me, after I stand up for my self, and let em know nice and sparklin clear that its gona cost em to try and hurt or rob me. "look out, crasy cracka dont wana me messed with"... There hoping Ill be another fool pleading for them not to hurt me and "oh, I have black freinds too". Or maybe they thought at the most I would call the police [cause all white peaple have money and cell phones of course now], and wait for the boys in blue to rescue me ?

Racism annoys me to no end, but I never consider a racist to be very wise. There is racism on the part of black people as well. I lived in Oakland for a couple years, and it was quite clear the bias against "clean cut white guy." I was as poor as anyone, but that wasn't how I was perceived. Was interesting.

As to the topic, though, if you have to ask someone not to use that term, then chances are the person's not smart enough to know that already. I'd guess and hope that most of us would already know what's acceptable behavior.

Are there any threads left where we're not insulting each other?

I must be one of the above mentioned dense ones, because I really don't understand where all this negativity is coming from.

I grew up in Orange County where every race imaginable seems to live. I've had friends from many races. I was even enamored with the idea of being the first white guy in the Vietnamese Club in High School. I was also tall and sturdy growing up, so I may have encountered less intimidation tactics than some.

In relation to scary black people all I can say is that some people defy stereotypes, and some reinforce them. Would you get nervous if you passed Tiger Woods or Barrack Obama on the street? It sounds like you're used to responding to a certain vibe you are used to getting from black people. I'm sure you have or will learn that you won't get this vibe from all black people.

What's interesting in my life with regard to racism is picking a doctor. At my last job when I was picking a doctor I realized my inherent bias. As you know I've recently signed up for benefits in my new job, and this time I'm allowing the HMO to pick my doctor. I feel brave.
