When Bill Clinton won boths times he was helped by a minor third party contender who divided either the centrist or Republican vote. Will the same scenario play out in 2008? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060301/ap_on_el_pr/trump_president (Incidentally, if Democrats were smart they'd encourage a third party Republican-like candidate as part of their election strategy.) ------------------ Creativity takes courage. -Henri Matisse IP: Logged |

thought we could revisit the question. ------------------ ~ What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world is immortal"~ - George Eliot IP: Logged |

It's funny, because after the mess that Bush has made of Republican credibility I don't think a "split vote" candidate is necessary for the Dems to take it. (Personally, I have nothing against conservatives. They play a very important role in maintaining the stability of this country. Politicians on the other hand..)And I really don't think a split vote candidate is going to keep Hillary or Obama out of the White House. (I wish we could vote like...Henry Winkler into the White House but with Rush Limbaugh as his key adviser. That would be hilarious..and probably productive. Henry is such a nice guy I don't think Rush would be able to keep a hard line stance for long. ) It's almost a hand-me to the Democratic side this time around. Lord help us, because it's just going to be more spending..in a different direction. We need to stop the spending by getting our politicians' spending habits in check. They work for us supposedly. Apparently they have too much time on their hands..perhaps a little more community service work? I want to see members of Congress wearing bright orange vests and picking up trash around D.C.!! If they quit..they were lazy bums anyway. Good riddance. Let's all write in Peppy LePew for President to voice our displeasure with politics in general. That's my thought on the subject. Talking about which politician is going to matter seems like talking about which color M&M is better. It's all the same folks.. daf
