There is much evidence to back up the Gannon story. It was in all the news for a brief time until, like so many things it was squelched and it was dicussed on talk shows, and even joked about by Jay Leno on the Tonight show. Gannon did interviews concerning why he had special privileges that no other reporter had. He was admitted into the White House late at night and certainly there were no news briefings going on at those hours.
Bush had many gays working in his adminstration after the 2000 election. The Gay Community supported him whole heartedly during the election even worked on his campaign. Then Bush, needing to appease his conservative religious following in a very close race with John Kerry stabbed these people in the back by making anti-gay marriage forefront in his campaign.
It must have worked with the bigots in Ohio ( if the election was legal that is ) because he won the state of Ohio, which had the highest unemployment rate in the country, proving I guess, that most of the people in Ohio were more worried about someone getting a ....job than a real job.
See, when you only read rightist material, listen to rightist news, and listen to only one side of things you only get selective news or what they want you to hear. If you form your opinions, without listening to all sides of things and thinking about it then it is really an uninformed opinion. When you don't even question what you read and hear you not only go through life with blinders on and form uneducated opinions and beliefs, you forfeit one of your most valuable rights as an American citizen living under a constitution of which there is no other like in the world, not even the free world. Our constitution is that unique.
Even though I am by no means a Bush supporter I listen to Bush's speeches to see what he has to say and even check to see what Fox news is saying. I don't see any other way to determine what is true if you omit a lot of the facts by just tuning out what the other side has to say and instead just label them and anything they have to say as "lying leftist."
The whole message of what happened there in the Monica Lewinsky scandal is lost to most Republicans. The message was how Hillary Clinton, with dignity and grace overcame the bad of it all and overcame what hurt she must have felt by her act of forgiveness. You could at least give the woman credit for that. Most women wouldn't have forgiven that. The problem with you Jwhop is that you hate the person, not the sin. Beyond that for some reason that I find difficult to understand you even hated Clinton's wife. For what reason? For her forgiveness and support of him? That is in reverse of all Christian teaching that says, hate the sin, not the sinner.
Another thing, the Whitewater issue is mild in comparison to the corrupt stuff the Bush White House is doing. There is still billions of taxpayers dollars unaccounted for with Halliburton in the restoration of Iraq. Is Bush pushing for an investigation in the matter? No way! The Monica Lewinsky issue is so much less than what Bush has done to this country. At least Clinton was a good president. He balanced the budget when both Bush Sr. and Reagan said it couldn't be done. He created more jobs than any president in history. He didn't take away our medical coverage, millions of American jobs, start a pre-emptive strike on Iraq even though the same PNAC group whose plan of world control Bush is following tried to talk him into it...he showed them the door. It was the Republicans that made a big deal of the Lewinsky issue for their own political gain. Actually it was not their business it was Hillary's business. The American people didn't care. And when he was impeached Clinton's popularity ratings were still over 50%, much higher than Bush's are now.
An affair by a president is the worse that can happen? Check your history. Most of our greatest president's had mistresses. Both Democrat and Republican. Abe Lincoln had a mistress. FDR had a mistress. Dwight D. Eisenhower had a mistress. To name a few.
The worse that can truly happen is for a president to attempt to abolish the constitution by taking away our freedoms and rights under the guise of security, to use fear to control and establish a dictatorship in the White House. The worse a president can do is grow richer at the people's expense by playing Robin Hood in reverse. The worse a U.S. president can do is to advocate torture and refuse to sign an international agreement against the use of torture. Look at the other countries that also refused to sign that agreement. Libya is one of them. They are all contries with dictatorships. Bush sure put the U.S. in good company on that one. The worse a president can do is not be accountable to the very people he is supposed to serve. The list could go on.
