Ever desperate to prevent a US, coalition and Iraqi military victory in Iraq, Toyko Rose leftist democrats and traitors are renewing their familiar refrain to cut and run from Iraq...before we win there.

That wouldn't do at all. In fact, every bit of good news from Iraq is cause for mourning in traitorous democrat circles and a renewed call to retreat.

Who would think there could be traitors in the Congress of the United States who would put their political fortunes ahead of the best interests of the United States and the people of the United States?

I can't think of a more pathetic group of traitors in the history of the United States...oh wait, those pathetic traitors in the Congress during the Viet Nam War come to mind and guess what, some of them are the very same traitors who insisted the US lose that war too.

Kerry, Murtha: Zarqawi Dead, Let's Pull Troops

This article by Nathan Burchfiel originally appeared at CNSNews.com.

As President Bush and Iraqi leaders on Thursday welcomed the announcement that coalition forces had killed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, some in the anti-war community used the development to call for troop withdrawals while others downplayed its significance.

U.S. Sen. John Kerry, the Massachusetts Democrat who was beaten by President Bush in the 2004 presidential race and had recently renewed his call for speedy troop withdrawals from Iraq, on Thursday praised the service members involved in Zarqawi's killing.

Coalition forces "did an incredible job hunting him down and destroying him, and all of America is proud of their skill and commitment," Kerry said.

He called Zarqawi's killing "another sign that it's time for Iraqis to stand up for Iraq ... and run their own country." He said American troops "have done their job in Iraq, and they've done it valiantly. It's time to work with the new Iraqi government to bring our combat troops home by the end of this year."

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada also issued a statement praising the U.S. military and intelligence community. Calling Zarqawi a "cold-blooded killer who got what he deserved," Reid said his death and the naming of Iraqi national security and defense ministers made Thursday "a day to recognize these important achievements."

U.S. Rep. John Murtha, the Pennsylvania Democrat who on May 18 said "we have done everything we can do militarily in Iraq," said Thursday in a statement that the death of Zarqawi would "have a significant impact in reducing the amount of violence in Iraq."

But Murtha renewed his call for troop withdrawal, saying that because of the development, "we should be able to substantially reduce our presence in Iraq and redeploy our military outside of Iraq."

But not everyone in the anti-war movement agreed that Zarqawi's death would have a great impact.

"If you look at recent violence, most of the violence now is happening between different religious folks, not necessarily so-called terrorists that are now creating the violence, so I think it's tough to say this is something that's going to turn the tide in Iraq," said Paul Martin, an activist with Peace Action.

The American people, Martin said, are "ready for us to move on and to give this to the Iraqis to deal with and to focus our financial energies on rebuilding the country so they're able to take care of themselves."

Michael McPhearson, a spokesman for Veterans for Peace, said that "if you really think about the makeup of the insurgency, I think you have to realize that there [are] very different people making it up."

"With al-Zarqawi gone, you still have the same dynamics that created the groundswell of anger and agitation by the people there in Iraq," McPhearson said. "Just because al-Zarqawi's gone doesn't change the facts on the ground that people are upset and want us to leave."

McPhearson added that Zarqawi's death might mean "there won't be so many attacks on civilians and Shia by insurgents, but certainly there will be retaliation against American forces with new vigor because their leader's been killed."

Bloggers on the Democratic Underground website criticized Americans who believe the Bush administration's assertion that Zarqawi's death marks a turning point in the Iraq war.

"There will be a bunch of sheeple in America tomorrow morning, who when they wake up from their blissful sleep after watching a bunch of reality shows, they will hear about the Bogeyman Terrorist Zarqawi being dead, and they will suddenly think the world is safer and everything is okay," one blogger wrote.

Others questioned whether Zarqawi even existed in the first place. "Do we even know if this guy ever existed?" one asked, adding: "And even if he is who they say he is, so what?"

***And so the spinning and questioning begins..as always by radical leftists.

LOL.. I posted this one under Zarqawi's death thread:

Democrats call Zarqawi killing a stunt
By Amy Fagan
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
June 8, 2006

4:09 p.m.
Some Democrats, breaking ranks from their leadership, today said the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab Zarqawi in Iraq was a stunt to divert attention from an unpopular and hopeless war.
"This is just to cover Bush's [rear] so he doesn't have to answer" for Iraqi civilians being killed by the U.S. military and his own sagging poll numbers, said Rep. Pete Stark, California Democrat. "Iraq is still a mess -- get out."
Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, Ohio Democrat, said Zarqawi was a small part of "a growing anti-American insurgency" and that it's time to get out.
"We're there for all the wrong reasons," Mr. Kucinich said.
Officially, Democratic leaders reacted positively to the news and praised the troops that successfully targeted al Qaeda's leader in Iraq with 500-pound bombs at his safe house 30 miles from Baghdad.
"This is a good day for the Iraqi people, the U.S. military and our intelligence community," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada.
President Bush said that yesterday's killing of the 39-year-old Jordanian-born terrorist offers an opportunity to "turn the tide" in the war and that Tuesday he will discuss with Iraqi leaders "how to best deploy America's resources in Iraq."
A senior White House official cautioned that Mr. Bush was not hinting at possible early reductions in U.S. troops there, according to Reuters news agency.
Meanwhile, Democrats sprinkled caveats throughout their praise.
"That is good news; he was a dreadful, vicious person," said Sen. Kent Conrad, North Dakota Democrat. Mr. Conrad added that he hopes the military can get Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri, another top al Qaeda leader.
"They're even more important," he said.
Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, Michigan Democrat, said it was good news but added, "I think we have a long way to go."
Republicans called Zarqawi's death a positive step and thanked Iraqi citizens for standing up to a threat against their nascent Democracy.
"I am more optimistic than ever that a free and stable Iraq can be achieved," said Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee.

Sometimes when I read what democrats have to say, I think there's a bigger anti-America insurgency in the US Congress than there is in Iraq.

I know the anti-America insurgency in the leftist press is bigger than the insurgency in Iraq

One could easily get that impression of an insurgency by reading what the democrats have to say in the article you posted.

Iraq Less Violent than Washington, D.C.

Despite media coverage purporting to show that escalating violence in Iraq has the country spiraling out of control, civilian death statistics complied by Rep. Steve King, R-IA, indicate that Iraq actually has a lower civilian violent death rate than Washington, D.C.

Appearing with Westwood One radio host Monica Crowley on Saturday, King said that the incessantly negative coverage of the Iraq war prompted him to research the actual death numbers.

"I began to ask myself the question, if you were a civilian in Iraq, how could you tolerate that level of violence," he said. "What really is the level of violence?"

Using Pentagon statistics cross-checked with independent research, King said he came up with an annualized Iraqi civilian death rate of 27.51 per 100,000.

While that number sounds high - astonishingly, the Iowa Republican discovered that it's significantly lower than a number of major American cities, including the nation's capital.
"It's 45 violent deaths per 100,000 in Washington, D.C.
," King told Crowley.

Other American cities with higher violent civilian death rates than Iraq include:

Detroit - 41.8 per 100,000

Baltimore - 37.7 per 100,000

Atlanta - 34.9 per 100,000

St. Louis - 31.4 per 100,000

The American city with the highest civilian death rate was New Orleans before Katrina - with a staggering 53.1 deaths per 100,000 - almost twice the death rate in Iraq.
