CHURCH SLAMS BUSH

Welsh singer CHARLOTTE CHURCH has slammed American President GEORGE W BUSH as a "proper weirdo" after he mistook Wales for a town.

Church, who is re-launching herself as a pop star with upcoming new album TISSUES AND ISSUES, was astonished at the political leader's lack of geographical knowledge.

The 19-year-old says, "George Bush hasn't got a clue what he's doing. He asked me what state Wales was in. I said, 'It's its own country next to England Mr Bush.'

"If he doesn't know the rest of the countries in Europe, he could at least know what's in his own country.

"I'm really worried about it. He's a right weirdo."

COLLEGE

I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE

I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business in Midland , Texas , in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas . The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry, including Enron CEO Ken Lay, I was elected governor of Texas

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS

I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union .

During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.

I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history.

With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida , and my father's appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by over 500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT

I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.

I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.

I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.

I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.

I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.

I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.

I set the all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock market.

In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and that trend continues every month.

I'm proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in U.S. history. My "poorest millionaire," Condoleeza Rice, had a Chevron oil tanker named after her.

I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S. President. I am the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most corporate campaign donations.

My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one of my best friends, Kenneth Lay, presided over the largest corporate bankruptcy fraud in U.S. History, Enron.
My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to assure my success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision.

I have protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or prosecution.

More time and money was spent investigating the Monica Lewinsky affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate rip- offs in history.

I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and refused to intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed.

I presided over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.

I changed the U.S. policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts.

I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than any President in U.S. history

I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in the history of the United States government.

I've broken more international treaties than any President in U.S. history.

I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any President since the advent of television.

I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year period. After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst security failure in U.S. history.

I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center attacks and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in the world, the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.

I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record for protests against any person in the history of mankind.

I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked, pre-emptive attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I don't really see any point in hammering away at Bush's intelligence/character. Any research will show you that he's not calling the shots. He's just a puppet. He may take part in some decisions but, for the most part, hes just there to look pretty. I feel sorry for him, he seems like a nice man.

President Bush To Legally Blind Reporter: ‘Are You Going to Ask That Question with Shades On?’

At a press conference this morning, President Bush needled Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten after he stood up to ask a question wearing sunglasses. “Are you going to ask that question with shades on?” Bush said, telling Wallsten, “I’m interested in the shade look, seriously.”

But as Wonkette first noted, and which ThinkProgress subsquently confirmed, Wallsten is legally blind. Wallsten tells us he has a rare genetic disorder called Stargardt’s Disease. The disease is a form of macular degeneration that can be slowed “by wearing UV-protective sunglasses and avoiding exposure to bright light.”

Wallsten said Bush’s comments did not offend him at all. “I never advertise it to him. I’ve never told him.”

Watch it:

Transcript below:

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, Peter. Are you going to ask that question with shades on?

Q I can take them off.

THE PRESIDENT: I’m interested in the shade look, seriously.

Q All right, I’ll keep it, then.

THE PRESIDENT: For the viewers, there’s no sun. (Laughter.)

Q I guess it depends on your perspective. (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: Touche. (Laughter.)

Bush Apologizes to L.A. Times Reporter

By NEDRA PICKLER
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON

President Bush, who often teases members of the White House press corps, apologized Wednesday after he poked fun at a reporter for wearing sunglasses without realizing they were needed for vision loss.

The exchange occurred at a news conference in the Rose Garden.

Bush called on Los Angeles Times reporter Peter Wallsten and asked if he was going to ask his question with his "shades" on.

"For the viewers, there's no sun," Bush said to the television cameras.

But even though the sun was behind the clouds, Wallsten still needs the sunglasses because he has Stargardt's disease, a form of macular degeneration that causes progressive vision loss. The condition causes Wallsten to be sensitive to glare and even on a cloudy day, can cause pain and increase the loss of sight.

Wallsten said Bush called his cell phone later in the day to apologize and tell him that he didn't know he had the disease. Wallsten said he interrupted and told the president that no apology was necessary and that he didn't feel offended since he hadn't told anyone at the White House about his condition.

"He said, `I needle you guys out of affection,'" Wallsten said. "I said, 'I understand that, but I don't want you to treat me any differently because of this.'"

Wallsten said the president said he would not treat him differently, so Wallsten encouraged him to "needle away."

"He said, `I will. Next time I'll just use a different needle,'" Wallsten said.

Wallsten said he thought that was a pretty good line. And his only complaint is that the president didn't answer his question at the news conference.

Do you never tire of the lies you tell against Bush Rainbow?

They aren't going to do you any good Rainbow and neither will they help your friends Saddam and the terrorists.

I wonder where this singer with the flagging career managed to run into the President?

Was she having an out of body experience when he talked to her?

Had it been Clinton, we all know where they would have met...under the desk in the Oval Office or in the Lincoln Bedroom. But where and when did she meet Bush?

Nice going Petron, still in there pitching I see. However, in your attempt to make the President look uncaring, you overlooked a couple of details.

First, those are regular sunglasses and not the kind of glasses the blind wear.

Second:
"Wallsten said Bush called his cell phone later in the day to apologize and tell him that he didn't know he had the disease. Wallsten said he interrupted and told the president that no apology was necessary and that he didn't feel offended since he hadn't told anyone at the White House about his condition."

I think Charlotte Church has a very pretty voice and admire her talents as a singer.

I wouldn't say she "slammed" Pres. Bush so much as she was shocked that he didn't know such basic geography. That's pretty shocking no matter who you are. As a President of the US ... I mean, really now, it's not like the English are even remotely exotic to us and the Welsh are right there. So that's rather disappointing. And I can imagine being a little worried about it considering it shows a lack of basic highschool (giving some leeway here) geographical knowledge by, of all people, the US President.
But how bad a slam could "right weirdo" really be? Not being silly on purpose but, for the Welsh or even the English ... is that a serious put down?

Rainbow and Mirandee have been lying about Bush ever since they showed up here from CE...where they took full time positions lying about Bush there, defending Saddam Hussein, promoting the brainless Ramsey Clark and his petitons, promoting International ANSWER, the communist front Organization for the Stalinist communist Workers World Party and generally making horses @sses out of themselves.

All the communists wanted Saddam to be left alone. He is one of them and governed Iraq in the Stalinist communist mode of the Soviet Union under Stalin.

Nothing changes with these two. Just to give you a little history.

The question of where and when a singer who is attempting to revive her career by bashing Bush actually met Bush. And if it never happened, then Bush never made that comment about Wales.

And, it's damned strange that the only place I can find any mention of that is NOT in any article but rather on an anti Bush website.

If you believe everything Rainbow copied and pasted to this thread, then there's no hope of you ever finding your objectivity.

Those comments are loaded with lies. Not just common everyday lies, but damned lies which have already been proven to be lies that Rainbow continues to repeat.
