A news channel had Saturday shown footage of how three doctors - PK Bansal from Delhi, Ajay Agarwal from Ghaziabad and Arvind Agarwal of Bareilly were involved with beggar mafias and were amputating hands and legs for money.

"We had questioned Bansal last evening but he denied his involvement. We have asked for the video tape from the channel and after studying the footage we can come to a decision," said Neeraj Thakur, deputy commissioner of police, central Delhi.

Thakur said amputation of limbs by will is illegal and they have taken note of the case. Appropriate steps will be taken after analysing the footage.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh government has ordered an enquiry against orthopaedic surgeon Ajay Agarwal, who serves in both Noida and Ghaziabad civil hospitals.

The channel had shown that the doctor took Rs.4, 000 in advance to amputate a limb of a reporter who posed himself as a beggar. Agarwal had mentioned to the investigation team that PK Bansal of Delhi was part of the amputation nexus.
