There was a thread here some time back which included a study done on US military personnel.

Would they fire on American civilians. Overwhelmingly, and to their credit, they said NO.

Unless that citizen pointed a gun at a law enforcement agent, they would not be fired on for any reason. There has to be an imminent threat and simply (yet sarcastically) alluding to the label of "terrorist" is not enough to kill an innocent person.

Funny thing about Arms... when I visted my 3 year old nephew in Phoenix I bought him this Mr. Potato head kit. It had a Carrot and I think a Cucumber person as well. He took ALL the arms and stuck them in the potato head, then chased me around the house yelling "arms... arms...." now, anytime I think about arms, or the Army or armed American's - I think of Potato head with 6 arms attached to him.

Yes.. totally non sequitur, but funny as hell.

That experiment has been done many times in controlled conditions with different people. In every case the people were willing to inflict remote damage on a victim in another location to obey orders. Yes Petron if that guy had had an armed friend or two, he might still be alive in the UK today.
