All those neighbors of that proposed mosque are going to be a lot less amused when the 5 times a day call to prayers start blasting from their PA system, 7 days a week...starting at what..5am..6am?

I dont think they allow the azan on loudspeaker anymore (I havent heard a single mosque do it since 911). It was a kind of controversial issue back then but it has been done away with the last time I checked. Even before that it was illegal to do the azan in residental area. There are some mosques near commercial property more than residential area and they were allowed to do so.

Some people also object to Christian Churches ringing church bells Sunday mornings and I suppose it's more a question of what time.

At least in Hamtramck, Michigan, the call to prayer goes out over loudspeakers 5 times a day.

oh my despite being a major suporter of people doing whatever they please i was just thinking the same thing jwhop said, sorta. I mean my best friend lived next door to a mosque and the prayer call at 5 am was not fun...since it was Egypt that doesnt matter but say u lived here all your life why would u wish to get up at 5 am all the sudden?

actually some mosques in NYC still do it. There is a predominantly arab neighborhood not far from here and they use loudspeaker. But thats okay because it has always been an arab neighborhood and its not that close to residential areas.

The city council is allowing it... I wonder why. Maybe they think the bells and the azan are similar. I could see why it would be allowed, but then I could see why it would bother as well. But then again this is Michigan, one of the only two states (I believe) which has a Muslim-faith university set up in it, and I doubt the same would be allowed in Texas I mean did you see some ppls comments in that second video lol.

This is the literal translation of azan:

Allah is great x 2
I bear witness that Allah is great
I bear witness that Muhammad is his messenger
Come to prayer,
come to success
Allah is great x 2
And there is no god except he.

In the morning prayer there is an additional line (Prayer is better than sleep).

Actually azan is a proclamation of faith (I bear witness) and a call like the guy said. If Christians got on a loudspeaker and said, God is great, and Jesus is his son, come to attend church, so that you can go to heaven, and there is no savior except Christ (which is a common belief right), I dont see it as offensive though, its just a proclamation. Its not saying you have to believe that this is true, its saying 'this is what I believe'. And the person addressed is not even the non muslim its the Muslims. Besides, the call is in Arabic, so not many Polish ppl would understand it anyway and i dont think it would enrage them.

Actually at my undergrad university (a state uni) here in california, we had the Campus Christians for Christ club that used to do that in a way, but it was every week during noon. Every Tuesday or Wednesday (cant remember which) during noon they would broadcast and do a sermon in the middle of the Quad on this loud speaker (and the dorms surrounded it, there was a diverse pop of all diff religions there too). Sometimes they would really say offensive stuff too, and stuff that offended other Christians who did not share beliefs with them (stuff like If you dont attend church this Sunday then just consider your soul dead, you have shamed our savior, your life is not worthy of God and all this stuff) and all sorts of colorful things about 'Mohammatens' (its Muslims, Mohammadens is a British colonialism term which was used in derogatory ways ). But the truth is nobody really cared because most of the time we were doing our own thing or just ignored them. I dont see why this would get a bunch of people upset...but if it does they should go through city council because they are the ones that allowed it.
