democrat politicians and world saviors usually just give me gas but Big Al gave me many laughs during his 8 years as Vice President and he still does.

Who could forget the look on Clinton's face when he and Big Al were visiting Monticello and Big Al pointed at a bust and asked "Who's that?
Turns out it was George Washington, father of our country and the President Washington, DC was named for. Big Al the joker.

Or, how about the time Big Al claimed he cleaned up Love Canal of toxic wastes. I'm still unsure what "Canal" Big Al was talking about because he wasn't in the Congress when legislation was passed on cleaning up THAT love canal.

My all time favorite was when Big Al went to a Buddhist Temple and did a fund raiser...illegal as hell of course. When Al and an aide were leaving....a bag of cash in Big Al's hand, his aide asked him what's in the bag. Al answered, Chinese takeout. But Mr. Vice President the aide protested, I see green paper with pictures of dead Presidents printed on them. It's Chinese takeout, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

On another occasion Big Al got caught making calls from the White House to solicit campaign contributions...a big No No. Big Al brushed it off by saying, it's OK, there's "No Controlling Legal Authority" against it.

Big Al ticked Erich Segal off hugely by claiming he and Tipper were the inspiration for "Love Story". But then, what would the author know about it?

More recently, Big Al was haranguing an audience about global warming and used a long time frame graph to prove his point that there's a direct relationship between rising temperatures and rising CO2 levels. As the graph showed, there is a direct relationship. The only problem is that the graph clearly shows temperatures rise long before a corresponding rise in CO2 levels, about 800 years before

So Happy Birthday Big Al and many, many more. The world needs a lot fewer politicians and a lot more comedians.

Did I forget to mention Big Al invented the Internet?
