Life goes Full cricle.if anything the Call Center industry in India seems to reinstate this mantra

------------------------------------

India's Call-Center Jobs Go Begging

.....
Young people say it is no longer worthwhile going through sleepless nights serving customers halfway around the world. They have better job opportunities in other fields. The work is tiring and stressful and offers few career advancement opportunities, says Dr. A. Sankara Reddy, head of Sri Venkateswara College in New Delhi. In response to students' complaints, Reddy said the college a few months ago banned call center recruiters from campus. At least a handful of other local colleges over the last few years have made the same decision.

THAT is when the circle happens

India's Outsourcing Boom Runs Into Trouble

Shortage of Skilled Workers Could Mean Losing Jobs to the Philippines and China

...............
Could Foreigners Benefit?

The labor shortage, however, is good news for foreigners. Disgruntled British and American workers who have seen their jobs outsourced to India could get them back -- with one catch. They need to move to India where their English and their accents will be an asset.

"When foreigners take calls from their respective countries, it helps that they know the culture of the person they are speaking to. That can often be the differentiating factor between a successful Indian outsourcing company and a failure," Avaneesh Nirjar, chief operating officer of Hero ITES, an outsourcing firm.

Young British graduates just out of college and looking for a year's travel and work experience are already taking jobs in New Delhi, Bangalore and Bombay. So are British call center workers looking for a change?

Currently, about 30,000 to 50,000 foreigners work in the outsourcing industry. But a World Bank report says that by 2009, up to 16,000 of those jobs will be filled not by Indians but by Britons.

It's estimated that, apart from fluent English speakers, the outsourcing industry will also need 160,000 professionals with European languages by 2010. Only 40,000 Indians are expected to have this specialization. The remaining 120,000 jobs will have to be filled by Europeans or Americans.

At the New Delhi offices of Technovate e-Solutions, more than 100 foreigners from nine nationalities work alongside 900 Indians carrying out the sales, telesales and booking work for e-Bookers, a European online travel agency.

Tea Westerlund, 35, from Finland, said she came for the challenge and experience of a new culture.

"This experience will widen my career opportunities in the future. Most people in Finland tend to stay there, so it will be a big plus for me to have worked here," she said. "In the meantime, I'm being looked after and having a fantastic time."

very, very interesting.
I have always felt that outsourcing to other countries is not going to be the "golden ticket" so to speak.
I wonder what is next.

This is off-topic because I can't find my password to post on a new thread - it's just to amuse Indian Lindalanders, a news story all over the British Press today.

This extract is from top-quality paper, the Sun

-------------------------------------------

A ROW has erupted over whether a new £20,000 statue should honour soccer hero Gary Lineker or Indian spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi.

Leicester council is set to approve the Gandhi statue in a mainly Indian area of the city.

But protesters say Gandhi has “no connection” to English culture.

They have set up a petition for the statue to honour TV football host Lineker, 47 — who played for Leicester and England and advertises the city’s Walkers crisps.

Tale of the tape

Lineker

Born: November 30, 1960, Leicester.

World Cup goals: 10.

Discipline: Never booked in his playing career.

Defining moment: Consoling a crying Gazza against West Germany in 1990 World Cup semi-final after the Geordie was booked.

Gandhi

Born: October 2, 1869, India.

World Cup goals: 0.

Discipline: Never used violence, but always relied on peaceful protest.

Defining moment: Becoming an international symbol of peace. Pilgrims travelled the world to hear his wisdom.

-----------------------------------------

p.s About a third of the population of Leicester is of Indian or Pakistani origin - as far as I remember this fascinating fact correctly, lol. Friend of mine used to live there, I went there a lot at one time.

It was my sense of humor for the sadistic republicans

Anyhow, even the negative is good. We must not reject but accept it.

Echart Tolle talks about it also.

Tantrik teachings talks about it also.

UK in general is really tolerant of different people

In America, to many difference = fear
Look how they treated Obama during the campaign. I also hear that the government is planning to make only english and spanish official in America

I'd probably go past and not notice that. It isn't that uncommon. Given where I live (West Midlands). Punjabi speakers aren't exactly an endangered species around here.

We're not too bad. Most official forms will be available in an array of different languages. School books purposely include non-English names. My son read one tonight. One of the characters was called Nadim. Unfortunately he had a hard time with this and kept calling him "Naomi".

Then we have several native languages. I have a friend refuses to talk in English. He speaks in Scots. It can be hard to work out what he is on about sometimes, but I know I'm not missing much. "Wee lassies" is a lot of it.

That is wonderful news. Then we can bring the call centers back to the US and actually UNDERSTAND what the person is saying.

It is a win-win situation. The people in your country can get some sleep and the people in my country can get service from those that can really speak our language.

LOL... In actuality, this was going to happen anyway. Too many American's have been complaining that when we call our hotlines we are greeted with people that can't understand us and those we can't understand.

I'm used to Indian accents. It doesn't bother me. It's multi-layered automatic systems that annoy me - just give me a real person!
