I have stopped looking to be honest. I know the cheaper places, but nowhere in town is under a pound a litre any more. A gallon is about 4 and a half litres. My maths sucks, but I make that not much change out of 9 U.S dollars for a gallon of petrol over here in the U.K. That's $9.74 (U.S) for a gallon on the M40 ~ the main motorway route from here in the Midlands to London as of March of this year: http://seward.newsvine.com/_news/2008/03/11/1359389-petrol-prices-hit-pound5- per-gallon-in-the-uk
The price of a gallon of fuel has broken the £5 barrier for the first time as motorists continue to be hit by soaring petrol prices.
It was revealed that drivers on the M40 were charged a record-breaking 110.9p for a litre for unleaded, above the 110p threshold for a £5 gallon. The alarming price rise was recorded by the AA at the Cherwell Services. The average price of unleaded petrol in the UK is 106.2p a litre, with diesel 112.7p - compared to 89.02p and 92.29p respectively for the same period a year earlier, the latest figures from the AA showed.

Yeh here in OZ im paying about $1.52 per litre...way way too much!!! $100 to fill my tank!! its crazy..
Here they raise the prices when it hits Wednesday when people start being paid...and they lower the price on Mon and Tue..i try to fill up then..never fill up on a long weekend!!IP: Logged |

The national average is around $3.40 though. But it's much lower here.------------------

It is probably due to higher delivery costs. A government subsidy to lower gas prices in rural areas wouldn't be too far-fetched. Lower gas will eventually translate into lower grocery costs and merchandise, as gas affects almost everything. ------------------
